hi all...getting my new sp tomorrow
my first bike so i really want to take good care of it....hope u all can help me with some of my question
DURING RUN IN..
1.what grade of petrol should i use?92/98??
use better ones like shell v power in jb
can??
2.2t must use full syn one right?what brand is best for running in?
3.during run in,the rpm must be <5 and speed 80km/hr..true?
4.can i use the IRC tire for the time being...from earier post ppl say it is very slippery but during run in cant run fast anyway...me dont want to waste the new tire what is your comment?
5.during first svc at 1000km...what kind of 4t is best?spark plug lei?
6.when u all "off" your sp,do u turn off the fuel knob and the "eng stop" switch?is it necessary to do that?

Don't use IRC tyres. i skidded with IRC tyres twice already. Travelling at around 20+km/hr only. change the tyres. cannot save money on tyres one.

eng stop..>to protect shock to the electrical system...cos u just off the key it will shock

DO NOT use synthetic oil when running in otherwise the new metal parts will not bed in properly as the oil additives protect the rough metal bits from being smoothed out during running in!!!!!!!

er.. got a more technical question. even if you don't turn the fuel petcock to "off", nothing wrong right? i mean, there's no way the petrol in the flat-bowl can find its way to the cylinder and flood it, if there's no air-flow, right?

Warning to people who always use the emergency stop button to stop your engine instead of turning the key off..
this way of turning off will 'xiong' your engine and vavle more.. because as it stated, it's a emergency stop.. therefore power will be cut of ~adruptely~ <dunno how to spell lah.. correct me ok??
SO dun use the emergency stop button again.. use it in case of emergency only..
there is an article i read somewhere on net.. i'll try to find it and post the url here..
P/S:- there is only one bike that cant be turn off by the key knob.. so die die must use emergency stop button.. you should know..

their TP use HONDA dunno what lj bike.. although 250cc.. but 4stroke..
a original NSR150SP is good enough for them to 'jip' until face green green..

i tink the fuel knob can dun bother about it 1 lah....i ride my sp for 6mths plus also nv gimme any starting problems
then the use emergency engine stop to off the engine is ridiculous...it already stated its for EMERGENCY....juz use the key n turn off lahh i never heard anyone tio engine short becoz they use key to turn off the engine.....
hmmm 1 more thing i wana add...i feel sp the front n brake lights eat super alot of electricity man....so better to warm up the bike sufficiently b4 moving off in cold weather.....coz if u on ya headlight and use front brake(ya rearbrake lights will light) to brake + the cold engine will engine die easily man...... -

eh henry, but even if they twist your throttle, the "needle" opens, and the little plastic stopper at the carb venturi opens (dunno the name for the stopper), when your engine is off, there's no air-flow, so the petrol in your flat-bowl stays there. won't enter your cylinder. unless they're so itchy leg to kick-start your bike and zua throttle also lar... i think... someone correct me if i'm wrong?Originally posted by nismoS132:but some ppl hand itchy like to blow your throttle mah
cos the petrol goes from the tank via the fuel line to your flat-bowl right? and the bike uses the low pressure created by running air in the venturi (when you open the throttle), to draw the petrol up from the flatbowl into the venturi, where it mixes with 2T etc and air before it reaches your cylinder. my point is, when your engine is off, bike is dead, no cylinder movement, there is no air-flow in the carb, so petrol stays in the flat-bowl, even when your main jet is open due to the throttle action. right right?
