hi,
just want to know if i intend to get a new bike(ta 200) from motorshop...which shop offer the cheapest price and interest rate??
if i buy a new bike(ta200)...lets say for $5800,how much can i downpayment and the rest must pay by how many installment?one month roughtly must pay how much?
what are the other hidden cost that i must pay bf the bike can be on the road?things like road tax,hdb car park,coe,insurance??roughtly how much does each cost??
Case 2:
if i get a second hand ta200...what will the reasonable price be like?if cant pay in full..can arrrange loan with the owner??how to go about it?
what are the things to look out for when buying used bike?

cant help you much on the instalments...
diff shops got diff policy...
1.road tax is $100 per year for 2b bikes, can pay 6 months oso can...
2.hdb season parking is $13 for unsheltered, $15 for multistorey
3.COE prices only for 1st hand bike, check out www.lta.gov.sg
4.transfer fees varies from bike to bike, check out www.sgbikers.com
insurance got 1st,2nd,3rd party..... 3rd party cheapest but i tink only for 2nd hand bikes, 1st hand must take 1st party..

So can i say that buy new bike...ask dad or rider with long experince to buy for me then insurance cheaper is it...?but i will be the sub-rider la.....
if buy used bike,must pay 3 month installment in advance and also tranfer insurance(2/3 hand)...then can get the bike on the road from the MOTORSHOP is it?
if buy from owner,then i be his sub rider,carry on his installment only la..no need to tranfer insurance la...?
if i buy from owner,and want to be the only rider myself,what must i do and what are the things i must tranfer and pay?

If I'm not wrong, the insurance depends on the youngest age of the person insured. oh yah.. as for buying new, almost all shops give 5% as interest. it's "flat add-on" interest. don't tell the ah-pek at the bikeshop that, he'll look at you with a blur face.Originally posted by vti_79:hi,

here's how it works:
the OTR is the final price (assuming ethical, honest business procedures on the part of the shop).
lemme explain what happens in a theoretical example. if you decide to pay only $1k, and the OTR is $6k, you're loaning $5k.
for interest, it depends on how long you wanna take to pay back. if you wanna take 1 year, it's 1 x 5%, 2 years, 2 x 5% and so on.
assume you wanna pay in 2 years:
your monthly instalment would be
[$5000 + $500 (10% interest)] divided by 24 months...
so, the longer you take to pay back, you pay more interest.
points to note:
some shops demand a minimum downpayment, that is expressed as a percentage of the OTR price, like say 30% or 20% upfront. varies from shop to shop.
some orh-tiam are dishonest. when you buy a second-hand bike, they'll tell you, first 2 years 6%, 3rd year 12%. which is effectively 8%. so be sure that they state their terms clearly.
for second-hand bike from a private seller, pls refer to the post titled "super4 good or not?", i stated stuff quite clearly. "COI", as we know it, the sub-rider thing, works on trust. NOT safe unless it's your friend you can trust.

i was thinking of upgrading next time.i thinking of buying second hand class2 bike next time coz it is cheaper and i wont ride it for long(maybe car next time). but my friend ask me to buy first hand coz if got problems will be beri expensive to pay for repair and not worth it?
