I'm New To Bikes

Gonna turn 18 soon and decide to take up bike license.
But i totally know nothing about bikes.
I mean.. like i thought that the "Screen" of the helmet can't be black or other colours but most of what i see are black.
I keep hearing about what i friend say about honda, sp and all sort of stuff but i dun really get them :S
Should i really take up a bike license -
before u DO take ur license,make sure u noe why ure taking it.
dont take it coz most of ur frens talk about it or they hav the license.
coz talking bout safety..u cant afford to be ignorant on the road..it kills.
if u like cars better then just take up class 3.
im turning 18 soon and ill take up class 2b,im interested in bikes though most
of my frens dont.but to me its just a mode of transport to use go here n there.
im gathering up all the information i can on bikes b4 i enrol this past few months.
think it through b4 u enrol,dont be pressurized coz of frens,coz its safety we're talking about,and bikes are dangerous if u dont ride safely

Um, I didn't even knew the difference between a Kawasaki KR and a Honda SP back den, yet I did great so yeah, dun see why u letting lack of knowledge stop ya. Just read up and learn from friends.

my parents would lock me up and keep me at home if I ever thought of riding a bike myself.
my BF rides and like I said in a previous topic I started, he's going out so much with them I'm starting to feel insecure.
So.. If I do pick up riding, it'll only be because of him. Yet, like you, I have no knowledge about bikes at all. But I admit, I do enjoy being on one.
I would rather be given a practical lesson with a real bike in front of me, then taught the part names, etc. From reading on the various webbies, I find it a little hard to follow esp with the jargon and abbreviations and acronyms.
I know just as little abt cars so... well... I'm considering it too, but if anything, I'll try in June. See how our relationship progresses first.
Still, I think it's good to just give riding a shot first. As you go along, talk to others and learn more about the bike. I think from then suddenly you'll know more. -

slowly slowly you will learn things bout helmet & riding a bike.
for me when i enroll , i didnt even know where was de electric start or which was de clutch or brake lever. . . but slowly i started to pick up.

One wrong move and your dead! im not farking kidding , i have already lost 5 friends cos of motorbike accidents.
anyway , he is just your bf , not your husband . . . . . think of your parents first not your bf. -
i got involved in a bike accident before many years back. i know how dangerous it can be...
but at the same time, i do find it a rather convenient and useful way of getting around...
yeah. he's my bf, not husband. So yes, parents first. i can only take things one step at a time..
still.. i do think riding as a pillion is quite fun sometimes. i know it's more dangerous than being the rider though..
i'm still considering if i should even try to go for a few lessons first. -
if you're interested, go for it. there is no harm in getting a licence anyway.

There is never any harm in learning new skills.
for the threadstarter, since you are a beginner and would be starting your lessons soon.
Check your wardrobe first. You got nice tough jeans? Covered Shoes? Long sleeve shirts?
Then after you registered at the school. Have your friends with bikes pillion you to the Lim Ah Boy's shop and get yourself a Cheap, Open Face Helmet with clear Visor & the SPRING Sticker at the back. Yours friends should be able to advise you. They would most likely be thrilled to help you out.
As for KRR & SP, they are just the small cc sports bikes. Older versions too and they requires 2 T oil.
Can coach you easily about bikes...and easier to do so when you actually started theory lessons first. -
Hi, I'm new to bike too and am thinking of taking up lessons. I'm kind of curious that on average, how many lessons people go thru before they are actually eligible for the test and do I have to take and pass any theory before being able to take the practical lessons? Oh yeah, roughly how much in total is it gon cost to take up bike? Sorry my knowledge on transport is almost close to nothing

know nth bout bikes too before taking my licence, now after going for a few pracs i know what is what
