My pistol Ring wear out liao,
Any rider exp hat b4?
how much do u spend in servicing that?
if dun service it,would it break down or not?
my bike nowadays giv me weird sound i close throttle,
how huh? -

Better change lah, piston very important.

it will lead to a condition called "loss of compression", which means the ring can no longer maintain pressure above the piston, because it's no longer sealing the top from the bottom of the piston. you'll feel loss of power, which will eventually lead to you being unable to start the bike at all. get it changed ASAP.Originally posted by Hitakogi:My pistol Ring wear out liao,

the rings onli cost $40+
but the workmanship cost alot more.....

Piston ring cost $28(if i never remember wrongly)... If u want to change piston ring than i would advice u to service yr block as well... They've to open the engine up anyway... So might as well do a full service... When u change yr piston ring, they'll have to replace yr casket as well... It'll cost u a few hundred bucks but if u love yr bike than dun save this type of $$$... Save some $$$ might lead u to spend more $$$ than what u can save... Think twice!

anyway.. fyi, if i am not wrong.. loose piston rings will never result in piston seizure..
becoz piston seizure is normally cause by no enough lubricant, or high rev.. too much compression cause piston to stress, therefore cause piston seizure.. for loose piston rings, there will be low compression.. bike will have no power.. especially when valve open..
my bike also piston ring loose.. you can go and try to buy 2T that will tighten your piston ring.. i tried Mobil one.. then bike got a bit more power.. anyway it's advisiable to change piston/piston ring.. because scared that your piston ring will damage your block..
and piston rings are dirt cheap, compared to workmanship.. for what i know, workmanship for opening th block is abt $60-$80.. so if open block might as well change piston/piston ring, service conrod, etc..
