Traffic offence

  This morning when I was on my way to school, I committed an offence of riding against the flow of traffic as I take a short cut. After that, I was booked by LTA and I was feeling nervous and scare as it's my first time offence, I pleaded with the officer but he give me a chance of not giving me demrit points but a fine instead, he doesn't sound convincing and I wonder it is true when he say that? anybody had this smiliar encounter? cause I had friends who also happen the same thing like mine saying that the officer will give chance but in the end also follow the law.
