Wat model is his bike? Ver R/S or v-tec?Super4 maintainance not much one n toking bout the parts....its very easy to find coz there r Sooooo many s4 on the roads so no need to worry bout the parts. As for the insurance must see ur age, riding exp.,1/2/3 party n the insurance company.Originally posted by otacon:I have an offer from my good friend his Super 4. He dun need me to pay him any downpayment, just carry on the instalment at abt S$5700. Every mth must pay $229. I think it's a good offer, or is it?
But I also worry if Super 4's spare parts are expensive. And how abt the insurance for Super 4? Heard that insurance increased a lot. Anyone just paid insurance for Super 4? How much does it cost?
correct me if i'm wrong. the "coi" everyone talks about involves him putting you as sub-rider, and you pay the remainder of his instalments while you ride the bike. notice he's still the owner. perfectly fine if both of you have perfect trust and integrity. imagine should something happens. he's legally the owner still. he can retract from the agreement and sell the bike, as he's the owner after all, so you don't get anything for your instalments paid. suppose IF, i say IF, you decide to play punk, and not pay the instalments, the financing company goes after him, and if you get any summons for traffic offences (offences where the ticket is not given on the spot, like beating red lights or speed cams), the letter goes to him, to ask for the rider's particulars. there's nothing he can do if you refuse to acknowledge that you were the one who committed the offences. how much do you trust him?Originally posted by otacon:I have an offer from my good friend his Super 4. Would cost more than a thousand bucks if done it this way. Ask him to write out an agreemant in black n whiteOriginally posted by l3stat:correct me if i'm wrong. the "coi" everyone talks about involves him putting you as sub-rider, and you pay the remainder of his instalments while you ride the bike. notice he's still the owner. perfectly fine if both of you have perfect trust and integrity. imagine should something happens. he's legally the owner still. he can retract from the agreement and sell the bike, as he's the owner after all, so you don't get anything for your instalments paid. suppose IF, i say IF, you decide to play punk, and not pay the instalments, the financing company goes after him, and if you get any summons for traffic offences (offences where the ticket is not given on the spot, like beating red lights or speed cams), the letter goes to him, to ask for the rider's particulars. there's nothing he can do if you refuse to acknowledge that you were the one who committed the offences. how much do you trust him?
so a clean and legal transfer is best. so what's my point exactly? my point is that no motorshop will allow a transfer of ownership and instalment liability just because you want to. the usual practice is that you pay say a fixed number of months' instalments (in your case $229 x 3), then carry on the remainder payments ($229 x number of months left); if you're DAMN lucky, this happens.
what happens usually is that even after you pay the 3 months' instalments, you have to take a reloan for the remainder value of the instalments, meaning you pay added interest on your friend's interest when he bought the bike. my point is it's never that cheap. and, there are hidden costs, such as transfer fees, "administrative" charges etc. is his insurance etc transferrable? will the shop insist you buy a comprehensive policy before they'll loan you the money? etc?
do check out these details. i learnt all these in my quest of buying a bike, and i'll be DAMN glad if someone can tell me that there's a cheaper alternative than what i've explained when buying second hand bikes!
Insurance cost me $700 from mitsui.Originally posted by otacon:I have an offer from my good friend his Super 4. He dun need me to pay him any downpayment, just carry on the instalment at abt S$5700. Every mth must pay $229. I think it's a good offer, or is it?

agreed... or better, get your dad to buy the bike for you, if he's had many years of experience... save on insurance....Originally posted by zhenzhen_11:the best is to tell your friend to renew insurance and put you as sub-rider..
in this way u wont have to pay for hidden charges like admin/transfer fee, reloan charges, 3months upfront payment, etc..
you only need to pay for the insurance fee..
all these things is only possible if you have great trust in your friend..
BTW i had done this method.. but the other guy riding my bike is my bro.. dun scare he run away.. this method is the most effective and cheap method..
most if not all. you gotta think this way, the downpayment thing is to protect their interest, as is the reloan, since it's a new agreement in black and white. and the amount of money they'll loan you is a function of the market value of the bike should they repossess it, minus wear and tear, maintenance etc etc.Originally posted by subisisniki:i didnt know that its that complicated..
lestat, does this happens at all motorshops?
The insurance company takes the age of the youngest rider in the insured bike.Originally posted by l3stat:agreed... or better, get your dad to buy the bike for you, if he's had many years of experience... save on insurance....
trust is the keyword.. know a couple of guys in trouble cos of issues like traffic offences and payments over "transfers" of such.
trust trust trust trust.......
I think a photocopy of both yur nric n a simple agreement stating from when the bike is no longer in his possession n upon completion of installments, he will transfer the bike to u will do.Wif both yur signature of course. To play safe,u can involve a witness.Originally posted by l3stat:most if not all. you gotta think this way, the downpayment thing is to protect their interest, as is the reloan, since it's a new agreement in black and white. and the amount of money they'll loan you is a function of the market value of the bike should they repossess it, minus wear and tear, maintenance etc etc.
as for the agreement that RAIDER has suggested. i really dunno. how legally enforceable would it be? what terms and conditions would you include? representations? i really don't think the average joe has the ability to word an agreement letter with the brevity, clarity and completeness of one a lawyer writes. legal fees? how much would you save? if i had my business law text now, i could substantiate my claim with current legal procedures, but trust me, it's not easy.

Wat bike u ride?Y u need 4 bottles of engine oil?btw super4 only needs 3 bottles of engine oil,n if u change ur oil filter u need 200ml more. Will be cheaper if u D.I.YOriginally posted by Imaginary:Insurance cost me $700 from mitsui.
Expensive? well, comparatively to 2B bikes, I would say yes. As a matter of fact, I've heard that the speedometer alone from boon siew honda cost $700. And the circuit board below the speedo and tacho cost $400... I heard this from my mechanic.
Maintenance wise, engine oil is x 4, spark plugs x 4. And if you choose to use the good ones i.e. full syn, it's around $18x4=$72; plugs $12x4=$48
Tyres are also more ex.. about 260 for a good pair.
BUT, it's a great bike, low maintenance, reliable, comfortable and it looks good
