hulo everybody
hows the weather today? not bery gd perhaps?
so anybody today became wet duck or rainmaster?
morn wake up thought rain stop liao, halfway on the expressway started heavy downpour, damn neber wear raincoat, only brought a sweater along, thus when i reach sch, sweater too wet to wear n too wet to dry, went into lecture theatre wif wet jeans, wet clothes and need i mention soggy shoes...arrrhhh hate the feelin
go back even worse, even heavier rainfall, no choice too tired to stay in sch so here comes rainmaster again,
spend around 5 mins in the carpark folding my parachute (kam por) already wet liao..
u guys when u all ride in the middle of the lane ,ever experince other drivers drive half their vehicle into ur lane n overtake u?
just now happen, already wet n tired, stupid cabby did just that SHA2793, overtake still got cheek to stare at me, the air coz me to wobble abit plus i m riding over one big fat arrow , lucky ok,but got skid abit
lets hope tomolo will b better,n guys remeber ride safely ok ? no braking n corners on those arrows and the big rectangles on zebra crossings ok?

er joe ask u something, last wk my friend got into a fight at boat quay, afther the fight, his ring finger n llittle finger knuckles were faltten, he didnt felt much pain think ing that it was dislocted, he went to A n E
but the x ray shows his last 2 fingers were actually broken, the part between the wrist n the fingers; the palm area...
the x ray report shows the bone actually snapped into two n one part of the broken bone actually is now poking the side wall of the flesh area but no internal bleeding yet...
anyway the doc put him in a cast n told him to return in 2 wks
my qns is how do casts help in broken bones?
2nd qns, he is a combat driver who has already cross his mileage to convert to civilian license after he ORD, will his license or post be affected..? -

In case of broken bones, the fragments of the bones have the ability to re-attach themselves to each other. This is possible becos bones have some kinda of 'glue'. This ability will deteriorate along with age. That's why elderly ppl will have more trouble if they break their bones, as their bones have more calcium than 'glue'. It depends on how it heals. If it heals perfectly, the arm/hand will regain its strength completely. For my case, I was quite lucky. My wrist healed to about 98% of its original condition, it's functioning just fine, and there's no loss of strength.
My arm was a bit weak when the cast was removed, becos it's not used at all for almost 1 month. I had to retrain my arm for about 1+ month. Swimming and soaking it in warm water helped a lot. I started riding again soon after.

from what you tell me. It sounds like he has a fracture of the metacarpals the part joining the finger bone and the wrist joint.
Basically , 5th metacarpal ( on the 5th finger) is very commonly associated with punching injury. The surgeon or A&E MO will probably not do any manipulation ( i.e twist the bone) unless the bones are grossly displaced.
If they are agape, most bones have the intrinsic ability to appose and heal very well.
How we treat is to put in a cast (crepe and wool bandage), this ensures the wrist does not move excessively and is done in such a way as to allow the bones to appose( or face each other) so they can heal nicely.
This early immobilisation usu lasts 10 days , but you should get your friends to move his fingers after the 2-3 day to prevent any stiff hand or carpal syndrome. ( due to the healing process being excessive and the latter being due to built-up pressure from swelling).
It's an open fracture right, cos i heard something about a wound. Do be careful they are not contaminated bites and check if the fingers are rotated( rotational deformity.)
If that occurs, surgery may be required. Go back and see the Dr at the appointed time.
As to whether, this will affect his licence conversion. I think vocational or licence renewal is dependent on vision ,or severe medical conditions that affects the ability of the driver to respond. Like epilepsy or diabetic retinopathy. Wrist injuries normally heal well and should not be an issue.
But after the injury , there may be some associated weakness with elongation of ligaments or fascia. you can usu correct that with physiotherapy and muscle strengthehing
What is it you like about gynaecology , i am doing that now. IT IS VERY BUSY.

hai early know today i also wear go... go school dry, come home wet. KNN.
