  Is it ok to clean away water marks and stains from the hot exhaust with a damp cloth??
  Does it affect the pipe itself?

  shld b ok lah...i do that oso...if dun clean the water mark will stain there looked very ugly....

  Be careful that the cloth is clean, and dun use any cleaning agent or polishing agent on the hot surface .. sometimes can get permanent stains.

  careful of dust n sand particles tt r stuck on yr exhaust cause of the water. if u wipe w cloth. thy will scratch yr pipe.

  maybe use some mist spray to remove them first??
  or allow some cooling down will be better...
