Gear Change

I experience this funny techinical issue on a TA200..
When i am riding and come to a situation whereby I need to kick down from gear 3 to gear 1 with a reduced speed, I sometimes cannot really go down to gear 1 (as being in gear 1, u will not be able to step down any further). The situation is tt i seemed to be engage a gear down and it stops at gear 2, irregardless if i still try to kick down..its like kick down with no gear change..and in the end i have to kind of come to complete stop, and start kicking again or kick up a gear and then kicking down till i get gear 1..why so??
Anyother issue is tt does it wears out clutch when we clutch in from say gear 4, let bike roll to stop line and at the same time slowly kick to gear 1 or gear neutral while applying the brakes gradually?

wen u kik dwn, dnt 4gt 2 always let the gear lever raise completly to it's rest position b4 doing anothr kik.
common practise this is nt dun thus causing shifting problms. -

wah u pro leh ... gear 3 to gear 1 ... this way stress up up engine alot ... why dun u try bring the gear down to gear 2 and apply engine brake ... this way will not stress the engine ... and also i have never heard of ppl changing from gear 3 to 1 ...

That's applicable when you almost come to a full stop, the rpm is low enuff to drop all the way to 1st gear. But when the rpm is still quite high and you need to deaccelerate fast, engine brake helps a lot. When u kick gear down but it feels soft and there is no change in the gear, try half clutch. U release ur clutch a bit then clutch in and kick the gear again.Originally posted by j007:I experience this funny techinical issue on a TA200..

so its just kicking it to one, clutch in all the way then apply brakes at the same time. Almost stationery, kick neutral loh..
Not apply engine brake, kick from 3 to 1 harms the engine?? -

If clutch in all the way, and apply brake, doesn't stress the engine... Rather I think you will season the brake pad.
