I went to Sporting recently to check on the sudden inflation of the Pirelli tires. Joe told me it was due to the exchange rates. EURO dollar much stronger than the weakened SINGAPORE Dollar due to our current economic situation.
PIRELLI SUPERCORSA SC123 used to be $450, now it's $550
PIRELLI DIABLO was expected to be $420-$450, now it's $495 to $520
All OHLINS must be increased by 15% from next shipment onwards.
Actually all European products have increased in prices. Really badly hit...

your complain is about economics. not sars.Originally posted by MS:Is it? why is it lame?
well.... i dun agree with your view that it is "common sense"... but the eurodollar IS on the rise....Originally posted by nismoS132:your complain is about economics. not sars.
the euro dollar has been rising steadily against the us dollar for quite some time. when it was 1st introduced, it was close to our value. last nov/dec, it became on par with the US$. it's not surprising that it's gonna overtake it, and that prices of european goods will increase.
it's just a matter of common sense and foresight.
in the end you could always just get a set of tyres from japan instead, the yen vs singdollar rate has remained quite stable for half a year and more, and i don't foresee their value going up anytime soon. instead, our value might go up.
economics are for THAT other forumOriginally posted by zx6r:well.... i dun agree with your view that it is "common sense"... but the eurodollar IS on the rise....
i think the point he is actually making is that the European Tyres such as Pirelli and Metzeller are costing more now....not just because of the rise of the Eurodollar but because the Singapore dollar is not very strong due to our economic situation... (but if you want to go into economics, Singapore is running on the Managed Float Exchange system, so the Singapore dollar will not appreciate or depreciate to the extremes but fluctuate within a band of values set by the MAS, which is also dependent on the basket of values that the SIng dollar is based on)
and another point is that at present, he is looking at European Tyres... obviously he is interested in BUYING Euro Tyres and not Jap tyres, right?
he just wants to air his opinion and comment about the tyres prices...
