u noe why they want u on comprehensive?
Becoz if you buang or anything, they can claim til they happy.
U go put 3rd party, u buang, they claim sai.
right?
So i dun think they will wan lor, but u can try. -
if you read the hire purchase act carefully, the wordings did not state that you should go for the comprehensive type.
as long as the goods are insured, the bike shop cannot take legal action against you, although this will sour your relationship with them.
you can do the insurance at ntuc but you need to keep the shop informed. you must also give them a photocopy of the insurance cert.
hope this can clear your doubts. -
If your bike is still under installments... I think you have to ask the shop ur installment is under.
Ask them if the cover type can be changed anot, and whether can change insurance company anot.
Normally insurance companies dun accept individuals whose bike is under hire purchase to do the insurance themselves, but must be thru the bikeshop. Unless your bikeshop is agreeable for you to settle it yourself.
Coz i was told by the NTUC staff that if they do for you, then your bikeshop dun agree...then very troublesome...
I just renewed my insurance oso. The bikeshop didnt allow me to do insurance renewal myself.
Btw....NTUC is more expensive.
Coz I went down to the office to do a quotation.
and it turned out that their prices are a few hundred more than Mitsui. (I dunno abt the excess though)
I was quoted by the bikeshop for Mitsui 1st party at $700+...
Btw I'm P plate....riding SP oso...
Dunno why you were quoted such a high price... But NTUC's quote was slighty above $1k.

The best thing to do is to check wif the shop n ask them can change frm 1st to 3rd.If they dun allow try to reason wif them lor!! But still cannot then u ride wif 4th party lor tat is w/o insurance
but better dun try tat it is the same as w/o license :p
1 tin 4 sure u can chose the insurance company u wan!!

for the last time.
i went down to ntuc and bought my own TPFT insurance using a photocopied log card by myself without telling anyone at my bike shop.
anyone telling you that you cannot apply your own insurance is just a guilible fool. -
but from wat i know some staff at ntuc quite guai lan coz they onli wan ur original log card, they dun care abt u forget or wat. if u tell bike shop they will chop carrot n they wont let u change insur oso.
