Recently i had an accident and received a $200 summon and 6 demerit points. i just got my 2a in april, so after a yr, my points would be 6+12=18 or 12 again? thxs in advance.

Just share my experiences.......
Date of letter 02/03/2001 from Traffic Police
Our records show that you have accumulated 17 demerit points for the following offence(s)
29/4/99- Park within a demerit points no parking zone (2+am) -3 pts
18/5/99- Driving in bus lane during prohibited hrs -4 pts
4/12/99- Causing veh to remain in bus lane during prohibited hrs
-4 pts
5/11/00- Careless driving (kanna charged in court) -6 pts
As your driving licence has not previously been liable for suspension, i would like to remind you that if you accumulate 24 or more demerit points within a continuous period of 24 months, your driving licence will be liable for suspension for all classes of vehicles.
If you maintain a 12 month period free of offences incurring demerit points, your previous points incurred will be expunged from your driving record. If you maintain 24 month period free of offences incurring demerit points, your previous points and suspension will be cancelled.
Now back to 24pts liao.....
So must remember..... if u kanna demerit points, make sure u dont commit another one within 12 months.... if not, ur first offence points will only be expunged 1 yr later from the date of 2nd offence provided you maintain a 12 month period free of offences. -
