Knowledge on bike

Hi. I've been riding for a yr ++. Sometimes when my bike has any probs, i have friends who can advise me on what's wrong and how to fix it. But i feel the need to learn the know-how of maintaining a bike or maybe making it able to go faster, fuel efficient etc.
So my main point is where can i learn? For example a proper institution( does ang mo kio ite's automotive provides it? ). -

I'm like learning new things whenever problems with my bike arises. Wouldn't it be better that we can fix it ourselves or prevent them from happening? I find it quite sad when the mechanic tells me this and i don't know what is he refering to.

well 3 ways you can get about to learn.
1) registar at an ITE, i think they speacialise in cars but you will learn the basics.
2) Go find a job as a trainee mech at a bike shop, but pls do make sure its a reputable one tt you will learn the rite stuff from.
3) join a group of lau jiaos... -

I think i will take automotive course as a part-time student at ite( if i can find time ). Else, everytime go servic bike... steal abit from the mechanics....

also can be like me always buy old old bike then problem arises can slove yrself ...a much smater way is to source for a Haynes Manual for yr bike then do some reading and DIY
