Depends on what you expect the tires to do for you.
You want good traction in wet and dry... got to get soft (sports) compounds. You want it to last long... get harder compounds.
You like to ride fast and go down low in the corners... better get soft race compound tyres.
Bottom line is - what is cheap is not good, what is good is not cheap. Good gripping tyres don't last long and long lasting tyres don't grip at all.
Alot of new bikers make the mistake of going cheap on tyres and brakes. Never never go cheap on these 2 items. Your very life can depend on the status of these 2 items. Whether you slide off the road or stop in time depends on the quality of your brakes and tyres. No point being able to go fast but not able to stay on the road nor stop in time.
Like what the old Bell helmet advertisement used to say: If you have a $10 head, then buy a $10 helmet.
