  so are there any dell pcs with amd (duron or athlon) chips??

  read somewhere that apart from heat problems, AMD chips are actually faster than the Intel chips..
  
  go with the Dell notebooks they're cheap and pretty okay...
  
  was looking at the Sony notebook the other day.. it had a UXGA screen, 120GB HDD, 512MB RAM (option to go 1GB), DVD RW both -R and +R.. and a P4-2.8GHz... and it looks nice too

  dell should come with pentiums or celerons..
