I start off this thread by defining the meaning of CRYPTOZOOLOGY.
Cryptozoology is the study of animals that are rumored to exist, but for which conclusive proof is still missing; the term also includes the study of animals generally considered extinct, but which are still occasionally reported.
Here's my story..
In the mid 80s when I was doing my NS, we brought our recruits to the firing range in Seletar. This firing range is adjacent to one of the larger rain forest still existing in Singapore.
At about 1700 hrs in the evening, while everyone was packing up to go back to camp, I noticed a dog-like creature on a jungle path in the forest. Distance was about 50 to 80 m away. Wild dogs are quite common but what struck me was its slender legs , very short tail and a narrow snout. As I focus properly, I realised that it was a small deer... a mousedeer to be exact.
When I looked up some books, it appeared that the mousedeer, which is native to SE-Asia, is thought to be extinct in Singapore and in other more built up areas in Malaysia and Indonesia. This was a very surprising find for me.
I wonder if our Urban Explorers have had the same sightings , or have seen other types of animals that are not supposed to be around in Singapore , or are extinct. Please share.
And oh , I don't mean telling us about your sightings at the Night Safari or the Zoo
