An unknown object/fireball lands in Columbia, media is calling it a meteorite.

Imo, don't think it's a meteorite/asteroid. For a rock to actually pass through burning through the earth atmosphere to reach earth, it needs to be pretty big in size (size reduces as it burns).
If it's that big, NASA should have spotted the large object on a collision course. On the other hand, if it was a small object in the first place, burning through the atmosphere would have reduced it to dust before it reached land. This could be something else other than a rock... they are covering it up?
Update: Unfortunately, there's apparently a hush-hush policy by NASA
