Pics of the above-mentioned underpass can be found in the thread link below.Originally posted by tranquilice:There's stories that this underpass towards the sea will always be dark, I used this underpass yesterday to Bayshore, upon reaching the Bayshore side, turn back to look, it's not dark at all, with the underpass well-lit. The step width is too narrow however.
"No where"?Originally posted by tranquilice:Saw the thread before, I think the photo which shows the dark end of the underpass is not real. In fact, I think there's nothing unusual about this underpass, most "interesting" are those underpasses at areas G and H, if you are using them from ECP, basically, they leads to "no-where".
Go to the 2 underpasses (I believe they are not closed) at East Coast Park, go thru one of them or both, when you come out at the other side, you will see Laguna golf course but it is fenced up. They bring you no-where (there are no foothpaths at this end of the underpasses). You just can't go anywhere but to cross the underpass back to the park.Originally posted by PaJeRoMiNi Ver 1.0:"No where"?
You mean there are entrances to the underpass, but it is blocked when you climb down the stairs?
Maybe they used to lead somewhere but the construction of Laguna golf course caused the National Parks Board to fenc them up and close them downOriginally posted by tranquilice:Go to the 2 underpasses (I believe they are not closed) at East Coast Park, go thru one of them or both, when you come out at the other side, you will see Laguna golf course but it is fenced up. Locations of these underpasses are:-
1. Near car park G.
2. At car park H.
There's another one at Marina South which leads you to the reclaimed area, but I think it's locked up.
Are they really closed? Before the Laguna golf course exists, I believe that they lead to an un-developed area, considering that the area is land reclaimed in the 1970s.Originally posted by PaJeRoMiNi Ver 1.0:Maybe they used to lead somewhere but the construction of Laguna golf course caused the National Parks Board to fenc them up and close them down
BTW the one at Marina is locked up...I noe cause I played soccer there before...the underpass there is like those leading to the MRT sttion one...

Agree wif you dude...Originally posted by NeonTetra:sometimes they do things without any planning....take citylink to suntec for example...used to have a nice link totally sheltered from city hall all the way to suntec city but now need to detour over an escalator out there and looks messy to me..................
No, HDB cannot build flats there because the area is too close to Changi Airport.Originally posted by PaJeRoMiNi Ver 1.0:Agree
I believe maybe the HDB planned to build some flats there but the plot of land was later bought by the owners of Laguna....
Quite silly also hor...build the underpass before anything was even built there....waste money
The reason for the detour is due to the construction of MRT Circle Line and Convention Centre MRT station beside Suntec City, that's why the underpass has to be closed in order to build the tunnel.Originally posted by NeonTetra:sometimes they do things without any planning....take citylink to suntec for example...used to have a nice link totally sheltered from city hall all the way to suntec city but now need to detour over an escalator out there and looks messy to me..................
Once again..no proper planning beforehand...Originally posted by tranquilice:The reason for the detour is due to the construction of MRT Circle Line and Convention Centre MRT station beside Suntec City, that's why the underpass has to be closed in order to build the tunnel.
