Chang Shui-ying panicked when the phone started ringing and vibrating in her bust in front of other customers, according to police quoted by the Taipei Times yesterday.
'She attempted to cover the strange scene with her handbag and dash out of the shop, only to be blocked by the shopkeeper, who was looking for her lost mobile phone,' an officer said.
According to the United Daily News, Chang, who has six previous convictions for mobile-phone and lingerie theft, was about to settle her bill in a lingerie boutique on Thursday when she spotted the shopkeeper's mobile phone on the sales counter.
Seeing that the owner was attending to other customers, Chang took the phone and slipped it into the back pocket of her pants. But she was worried that the bulge in her pants would arouse suspicion, so she stuffed the phone into her bra instead.
