"I took these pictures in Sun City, AZ on Sept. 8, 2003 of a pretty sunset (and an odd aerial object) while taking a break from loading up my pickup truck (close-up above, full image below). My Mom remarked how beautiful the sunset was and I went inside to get my digicam. Using the bed of the truck to to steady my hand and the camera, I took about three dozen photos in all as the light changed and the sun set.
Neither of us noticed anything unusual in the sky at that time. I finally got around to browsing the pictures I took that evening, and was amazed to see a very oddly shaped (?) object clearly illuminated in the sky in a sequence of some of the first images. The rest of the pictures I took were cropped with the 'digital zoom' function of the camera or do not show the area of the sky with the object. It is actually possible to view the pictures in chronological order and see the object 'fade in' initially when you enlarge images 400% or more.
I've never seen anything in the sky (or anyplace else) that I couldn't explain. This isn't the moon, a planet, a bird, or anything else I'm familiar with. It appears suddenly then persists through a series of seven images that were likely taken over the span of a couple minutes.
I'm an advanced amateur photographer and have been using 35mm equipment for more than five years. I'm familiar with the intricacies and dependencies of exposure, depth of field, etc. I've shot Nikon F2A's, Pentax K1000's, Nikon FG-20's, Pentax ZX-M's, and a Nikon N70. I know my way around cameras pretty well. I've never in my life seen something like this, on film or otherwise.
