"We had a crazy winter storm a few years back, I believe it was the winter of 2000. I lived in an apartment complex at the time and it was located on a large hill and we were used to brisk wind blowing directly into our windows. The wind during that storm was fierce and unrelentless. I watched for hours as the snow piled up in front of my door leaving a snow drift three feet tall that streched the entire length of the apartment building.
When it was nice enough to let the kids play outside, I followed them with the camera to capture what I could before it melted. I was shocked to see what had formed on the bush right next to my patio door. This photo is not altered in any way. The branches on the bush were not bent or broken. They were coasted in ice. I'm assuming that the wind was so forceful that it made sideways icicles. I believe that the vertical ones formed after the storm had passed, and the huge icycles hanging overhead dripped down. "
