Golden Couple Shine in Aarhus
Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang got the best out of their opponents on final day in Aarhus after some hard fought matches. This Denmark Open closes with the victories of those who had stay under the shade of the Greek olive trees.
Once upon a time, Peter Gade and Camilia Martin were the golden couple, often suceeding together in their respective events. The new winning couple come from the Far East, Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang, boyfriend and girlfriend off court, both clinched the gold medal in Denmark.
It was Xie Xingfang who had the honour of starting the final day against Yao Jie. The Dutch had had a tough week and had already been complaining about cramps during her semi-final, while Xie had a smooth path.
With both players raised by the Chinese school, the points lasted a very long time with high clears and very precise dropshots, but Xie's reach helped her to clinch the important points, even if it was Yao, in a demostration of will, took the second game. The last game took a long time and Yao even got a yellow card for taking too much time, but her breath was louder and louder. And Xie closed it up 11-9, 8-11, 11-7.
Lin Dan was then next on court, after warming up and cheering for his girlfriend, against Xia Xuanze. The World Champion had a edge in statistic (4:1) but their last meeting in China Open last year had seen Lin Dan gets his first victory. This Denmark Open makes it two in a row, with a splendid match that Aarhus spectators seemed to enjoy in spite of Gade's previous elimination. They had their share of high jump smashes, but also their share of wonders when the two compatriots played incredible rallies, diving one after the other to bring back dead shuttles on court.
Xia and Lin are probably the most charismatic players of the Chinese team and are the ones who enjoy putting on a show. Xia joked when he dive for a shuttle and touched it before asking to the line judge to announce it fault. Few minutes later, it was Lin Dan's turn to play with the public - he shouted "thank you" to a Danish fan holding a T-shirt with Lin's name on it, leading to a general laugh.
Lin was in top form and on top of his game and logically clinched the final victory 15-12, 15-11, before staying few minutes on the ground, his legs crossed and waiting for the public to go crazy. "I'm satisfied with my victory today. I was very disappointed after the Olympics, but I went right back to training to try to forget about it, and move on. Now my next target is to help get back the Sudirman Cup to my country, at home next year, and then concentrate on World Championships, with, of course in the back of my mind to do well in Beijing in four years," said Lin.
About seeing his lover win another gold medal, Lin admitted that, "of cos, it's very motivating for each other to play badminton at high level. I cheer for her more than she does for me, because it's the way it usually is, girls are more shy," joked the great shuttler, who will be turning 21 years old in just a few days.

but Germany Open only 2* event... not much points one.... not like Denmark is 5*.... after tat will be China Open 6*, Spore Open oso 5*.....
C? Xuanze only get into final in Denmark last wk, he become world no. 4, overtaking Chen Hong n Bao Chunlai in their ranking liao.... their points all quite close.... if Bao Chunlai still don take part, he will lost out many points liao.... btw i donno y he hasn't been taking parts

wat a 1st set.... when they having 14-14, later Xuanze catch up n lead with 16-14.... i tot he gonna win..... but Lin Dan took the serve back n take down 3 points in a row n end the game at 17-16
so Lin Dan won the Germany Open title.... 2 GP title in a row (last wk Denmark Open + 2day Germany Open) -
