clarify something here, project sponsors = external vendors?Originally posted by Mospeada:i am abt had enough liao
my boss want to hold me responsible for the 5 projects that will allow the company to achieve its vision....and allow the company to achieve it budget this year...
and i have got to report to the project sponsors, who are not giving my their blessing to run along with their teams...
my own project sponsor spoke ill of the project infront of the senior mgmt
will u stay any longer?
no...the system is very very complex...Originally posted by JasonC:clarify something here, project sponsors = external vendors?
sounds like someone up there doesn't want these projects to succeed; and you're the executioner![]()
uh huh, so a HOD might be involved in a project, even though he/she's not the sponsor?Originally posted by Mospeada:no...the system is very very complex...
project sponsors are none other than the snr mmt, they are the one that will facilitate the project ( aka sponsor)...
the after that...there is the project managers....follows by team leaders...the team leaders also report to their own dept HOD...which is also the snr mgmt...
if that particular HOD aka snr mgmt is not the sponsor of the particular project, they will not put in their blessing for the project, they will say " my sales mgr need to do sales leh...etc etc..."
so i am caught in all these cross fire
something like that....Originally posted by JasonC:uh huh, so a HOD might be involved in a project, even though he/she's not the sponsor?
am i right to say that the resources for each project is pulled from the different units, and it comes under you, for the execution part?
jia you..Originally posted by Mospeada:hi ah meltz...
i made up my mind liao...
if, only if, i got positive reply from the other company, i will print out the letter and throw it at my GM's desk and forward to the HR immediately...and start to clear out my desk by end of the day
ah, probably his shop's KPIs are pegged to his other project, of course his interests come first;Originally posted by Mospeada:something like that....
the sponsor that slammed his own project did so cos he has got another under him that is totally managed by his own dept....
i report to the GM...Originally posted by JasonC:ah, probably his shop's KPIs are pegged to his other project, of course his interests come first;
then who do you report to?
given the scope of your job, you probably report to someone above the sponsors level?
or at least to someone influential enough to make things happen?
thanks...Originally posted by bluejuice:jia you..
will root for u..
keep me updated ya?

how did u guess?Originally posted by JasonC:it figures, new kid on the block; your neck is already out there, they only need to provide the axe.
you've probably tried explaining your situation to the GM? but it's not gonna work unless there's some direct action from him,
sounds like your job/dept is a pilot project?

i'm lost now, what did i guess correctly?Originally posted by Mospeada:how did u guess?
i've talked to him...but he was a bit upset...cos he threw in big $$$ to got one never heard before consultancy to come in to do up a plan...and a newbie came in and torn and threw everything out of the window...
the position is not new...he was new...
the position under the previous GM was better guided...
the part that i have told my boss abt it...Originally posted by JasonC:i'm lost now, what did i guess correctly?

so where does the previous GM come in?
Originally posted by Mospeada:the part that i have told my boss abt it...
the newbie is me
nvm the previous GM
the plan was good...a good piece of work that demonstrated the intellectual of the management...but if u want to communicate to the flr...u need something more simple and robust..Originally posted by JasonC:why did you "tear and throw" the plans out of the window?
nods.Originally posted by Mospeada:the plan was good...a good piece of work that demonstrated the intellectual of the management...but if u want to communicate to the flr...u need something more simple and robust..
