I WAS working in the head office in the Capitol. I was just sent here... to monitor progress , patch things up between some clients on $$$$ issue and pretty much being an @ss here to people who do not follow regulations and datelines. he heOriginally posted by bluejuice:

so how long r u going to be there for? -
on and off. I got another site to go to. N its even worse that this town. Its a site . A self sufficient site that will require 3 years ++ to finish the project and its behind schedule. I only go there when really needed. Cause have to traverse a distance , road conditions bad in between. And there is no internet there.Originally posted by bluejuice:oic..

But this town is about 1 hours drive from Sibu. Another small city , where i drink with my superiors ... drink the night away and ktv. LOL! at least there is some sort of night entertainment. -
I got a friend who worked in a small town.. i THink between sibu and kuching.. she say its so boring. NO night life at all. Really a town lor. Die la.. really ... its culture shock la.. from overseas to back here.. then i travel to KL , SG often for business meetings meeting cultured , educated and like minded people... n suddenly.. i am driving 5 hour trips down bad roads into a town where we are monopolising and trying to educate them on the need to globalise some stuffs and met with harsh criticism and sometimes the locals here turn violent. Do u know that we have firearms and licensened to carry them within our compounds in extreme circumstances . But so far nothing that bad has happened yet... -

But its really quite a big difference in culture.. even when I go there, I also can't stay for long. Get too bored! -

There are some locals that can turn violent when things dont go thier way. But mostly instigated by unhappy chinese . Locals are easier to satisfy , the chinese are harder.Especially when they are not up to standard they get absorbed our ousted like say , timber and sand lo. Then we got plantation not far from here , which was sabo'd.. as in set on fire.Originally posted by bluejuice:

Yup.. difference in mindset , practice and they havent seen what is out there.. the big fish.. the really big fish. Sibu is also a town where a lot of big fishes drowning in a small pond.

That's why I don't think I can stay there permanently. I still rather the laws, regulations of bigger towns.. like sg.. at least its safer.. -

The supervisors or local engineers to reason with the penghulu when we encroach into thier land which is rightfully ours by law but theirs by customs. Cause most of these locals have firearms.. mostly shotguns. Like the plantation , we gave them a few acres to plant what they want n give them some compensation to stop them from setting fire to the plantations. LOL! -
