  Jesus threatens people with eternal punishment.
  
  PS: the burning sulphur example should be in Revelations. But these examples should suffice, for now.

  Jesus condemns the sin, not the sinner. He loves the sinner and that is why died on the Cross for all who are yet sinners.
  
  The adulteress pulled to the public sq by the Pharisee is one good example of the above.

  When Jesus talked about the "dead" in "graves;" he was referring to his listeners (verse 24 referring to those who "has passed out of death" ...) and because He said, the day will come and "now is."

  For your information my friend, without being born of spirit, you are already "gone away to eternal punishment." That which is flesh is flesh... without "spirit" you are separated from God and once you die, the separation is eternal.
  
  The moment you are born of spirit, you are an eternal being in tune with God. The passing away of the "flesh" becomes of no consequence.
  
  What is this "eternal punishment" to you?
