dun worry.. i have seen people accept Christ after these presentations. i've been to a few of these activitiesOriginally posted by gasband:1) How do you expect people to believe with just 5 minutes of your bible presentation?
ANS: Dun forget we believe that it is the Holy Spirit who convicts and this may not be the first time the person heard the gospel.
Originally posted by gasband:3) It is illegal.
ANS: It is illegal in some places and in certain manners but not all places. Again, some christians, in all their enthusiasm, are not sensitive enough. Like going up to Muslims and tell them that their Jesus is God. Most of the time, sharing the gospel is not a matter of whether it is legal, but its how sensitive your approached it. I shared the gospel to muslims in public countless times but I always asked them and tell them direct, I am a christian, I am here to share the gospel and have a discussion, if they are ok, i go ahead, if not, i back off.
I dun think so. Although different churches and individuals look at things differently, all i know is that Paul charged christians "By all means, save some." Lets look at it this way, the person you meet on the street, that could be his or her last chance to hear the gospel....if you know that person is gonna die 30 minutes later, would you not stop her in her tracks and offer to share the gospel to her or would you not becos u dun believe in street evangelism?Originally posted by ben1xy:street evangelisation. is it restricted to certain denomination or whether they are more calvinistic or arministic (sp)?
yup. my gf still gets newsletters from raymondOriginally posted by gasband:Oh Raymond is in USA for seminary studies. He is back on vacation in Singapore now....

The only problem here would be how christians go about doing it. They just do not understand what it means to evangelise.
i'm Catholic!Originally posted by gasband:oh ok cool....but u were not from CCC i gather?
I got one friend always ask me to read some, i forgot what they called, Last Bread (?), a small booklet that is published weekly or monthly I thinkOriginally posted by gasband:1) How do you expect people to believe with just 5 minutes of your bible presentation?

2) It is like forcing people. Too aggressive.
ANS: I admit some christians come across as too agressive. IN CCC, we coached our disciples or juniors that our attitude towards street evangelism should be "SUCESS IN WITNESSING IS SIMPLY SHARING THE GOSPEL AND LEAVING THE RESULTS TO GOD". When we share with this kind of attitude, we are no longer bothered if a person makes a decision on the spot to become a christian, we just simply share and let him/her make the decision in their own timing.

Ask me whether i want to place my life onto jesus etc etc
Thats was pretty ok, and she is a good role model too
Yeah, I believe in that part about aggressiveness. Some got too far as to almost flame another guy's religion, or non-religion for some. A lot of forumers have described their experience on this, and unfortunately, even some Catholics got it too

Ya in evangelism, you have to be sensitive and put urself in that person's shoes. Some christians turned evangelism into a debating session. Evangelism is not about sharing the bible from page 1 to page 100 or whatever... just by saying to a person "Jesus Loves you"...THATS EVANGELISM...so i dun understand why most of the time, it becomes a "I want to convince you that I am right and you are wrong" session. There are times of cos I took that approach with certain people but its rare, very rare....
yeah it is true, it is not a perfect organisation but it really helps a christian get their basics rightOriginally posted by ben1xy:anyway, my gf always goes on about how she enjoyed her time at CCC. she said that it helped strenthen her faith espcially the part where she had to raise money for the mission trip. and it help build up her leadership skills and confidence![]()
