I always pass them to my platoon mates.

Although all my platoon mates had no idea how to make them ah..... all ended up too diluted or too concentrated.......
Anyway, the CDO's have nice choco bars Tastes good -

Think that Army ration nowadays not that bad what.Just that when you are eating,don't look lor.
Basically they taste rather okay,the only item I cannot take is the barley desert thing.Its horrible,others I have no complaints.
Anyway,when you are hungry,even the worst food taste nice.So don't complain.You don't have to like it,you just have to eat it. -

Lemon tea? Or rather, for the rest of the sachet stuff, I just eat then drink some water and mix in the MOUTH :p no use to mix into the water bottles. lol. -

and yes, in fact, i acquired taste for passion fruit tea due to combat rations! (sometimes it comes with that instead of lemon tea. but same sachet and same brand)
and not to forget the vicks chocolate powder (equivalent to milo), which is wonderful either eaten dry or made into a drink. but the best was what i and my platoon mates did at ROC - we gathered lots of vicks and the 3-in-1 coffee packets, boiled mess tins and mess mugs of water, and added both vicks and the coffee in - mocha! ever since then, i would make my own mocha with milo and coffee from time to time. yet another "lesson learnt"!

You think Army rations are bad? the worst i have gotten was an expedition in Jerangkang Waterfalls in Sabah. We were happily told the the guides would provide and carry all food for us. We were cheering!!! Menu as follows:
Day #1
Lunch: 50 packets of Curry Flavoured Maggi Mee in big kick ass pot
Dinner: Rice with some kind of canned meat + salted fish
Day #2-#6
Same as Day #1!!!!
I have never eaten salted fish EVER again... -

Well I was the one! Still remember I choose those desert combat ration cos the feeling is like water pillow Really feel shiok when your head lies on it..ohhh & don't be afraid the combat ration won't burst unless your head is to BIG or HEAVY -

ermm just curious, anyone noe where does the Vicko chocolate powder comes from ? other than from the combat ration pkt -
The dog biscuits 10 -15 years ago was so bad... ( not sure if they are the same in today's SAF . But we tried to bribe and give them to the Taiwanese village children, on one exercise, to see if we can exchange something better, e.g. fresh papaya or fruit or ice water.
The young farts actually threw our dog biscuits on the ground and asked for something else ! They were also not interested in the Van Houten chocolates. -

Best combat rats? The chocolate bars, by a margin. You could eat them for a quick pick-me-up, spread them over the dog biscuits for flavour, or melt them in boiling water for beverage.
My favorite were the braised chicken, though. Not really much meat, but incredibly tasty (for all weathers) & you could also gnaw all you want at the bones. I remember they're not easily to come by; most tend to get the package with the sardine cans instead. -
Yeah man, ever tried stinky sardines and cold currey chicken? The only edible stuff is baked beans on hard tak. Had to resort to a lot of improvising during my time. The webbing was a spartan version (no pouch behind), so I had to go down to Beach Road to buy a patrol bag to hook onto it, to carry the cambat rats & sometimes the spare battery for the PRC-77 set. The other method would be to pack them into the fullpack, & "tompang" your socks & other personal stuff with my officer or other servicemen. As a frequent attached personnel, imagine the ad-hoc negotiations I had to do with unfamiliar infantry peng. Most of the time I had to carry something for them in turn (usually an ammo box).
I ended up "arming" myself further with a satchel bag as well. Not the saht waterproof stuff that's commercially available, but a cheapo primary-school bag (green, of course) to contain the standard SAF fire-mission forms I must bring along. They didn't even have Ziplocked plastic then, so I had to wrap the forms carefully too.
Man, some units enforced field discipline to the extent that they conducted stand-by-used-tin cans after R.T.U.! -

im sure when u re hungry enough the combat ration is still quite nice
i rather hve combat ration den waste my time to cook magee or canned food
just tear, eat, throw, rest liao
dun hve to waste time find water, start fire, cook the magee, den still hve to wash up the untensil
