SAF's surveillance aircraft can now be armed

THE Republic of Singapore Air Force has revealed for the first time that its Fokker 50 Enforcer maritime patrol aircraft can be armed with Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
These weapons are air-launched versions of the United States-made Harpoon missiles, which were acquired in the mid-1980s to arm some warships deployed by the Republic of Singapore Navy.
The Air Force has previously only said that its five Enforcers, acquired from the Netherlands in 1994, are used for maritime air surveillance.
But the planes' Harpoon missiles allow the twin-engined, propeller-driven aircraft to target ships at long range, said crews from the RSAF's 121 Squadron, which operates the Enforcers.

The Royal Malaysian Navy Patrol Boats can now be equipped with Sea Sparrow Anti-aircraft Missiles.
Admiral Datuk Md So&So bin So&So, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, announced this move as a step towards regional safety as to prevent anti-ship attacks.
The Sea Sparrow serves a dual-function, primarily to safeguard against air-attacks and a secondary function to intercept any incoming anti-ship Missile, namely, the Harpoon. -

Mistral?Isn't it used only for land based aerial defence?
I belief the Navy to be using a system similar to the Mistral known as the Sinbad missile system.Besides,RSN Missile Coverttes also have Barak missiles on board. -
