Charlie was called to help find the NVG? I didn't know that..
I was in Delta..
Went back to look for it twice..couldn't find it..the CQ of Delta is going to get it..
The cadet they traced to think left for a support arms unit already..but yet again, it isn't totally sure it was that cadet too...
Thank God I was in the other force, not the force that lost it
Anyway think it was lost at night..A lot of handing and taking over wasn't done properly, and people were lacking 3-4 days of sleep

I think the CQ is the small sized guy... haha.. Well, what has passed has passed... Charlie was a wonderful wing even thought there may be some idiots running their own show.
I got one guy who lost his map and checkpoints list and managed to blame a cadet from another platoon -
The investigation is still going on I think..man..the NVG costs 6K
I think the cadet in question was given 3 extras 1st..coz not really sure it was his fault..
If I'm not wrong, a few years ago Delta wing lost another NVG..and the instructors up to Wing Comd hanged rank..(not sure how true..)
And trust me..Delta 55/04 has been losing things like mad..
Magazines, smoke grenades..man..morale was damn low after losing so many things during ST2

I sat on his chair in his office before and had total access to everything in his office..(Well that when I was an OOC..had to help him compile all the barrack damages and send the email to the ALOG)
His office is full of funny posters and a very distinct perfume is used in the office
Well unless I was too shagged, I dun think he was around most of the time during POI..

Nah..the cadets in Delta wing are mostly scholars...or probably have a bright future ahead, I doubt anyone would want to steal it..
And I guess everyone is just so scared of the instructors, this thought shouldn't have came up..
If it were me, I would rather question the medics, drivers who were there..

Hm ...so Delta so keeping the tradition of losing items aye ? even from my time..they have lost gerandes, flares, MG wallets ...haha...oh well...
Well i think the reason why they making such a big fuss over the NVG is
1) It isn't cheap, ard $6000 per unit, and they sell only the FULL set, not just the google.
2) Its a controlled item, and it isn't easy to be purchased, all the redtape and such,laws and all the trade agreement. Heard a similar situation abt the American built PVS NFEs.The Pentagon were rather touchy on other nations being able to purchase the latest GEN 3 equipment ( not too sure abt that validity though, read from Economist magazine, 2 yrs back, coupled by the fact some internet shops are claiming to sell the PVS system. BTW the PVS-7 is a darn gd goggle, tried it once, provides depth and clarity.)
3) Its made in Isreal, so i IMO stocks are hard to come by and maybe a abit sensitive.

Yup,one-niner you are right.My colleague in BRC,one of his man durin field ex dunnoe how lose the NVG and not only that,made the impossible possible by losing his M16S1 section markmans scope.God knows how he lost it.
Anyway,thats not the worst.My cousin's OCS batch,some idiot lost the signal set!!!How to lose it,I also dunnoe... -

**anyway,you guys say that such NVGs are controlled items,how about those sold at Beach road?Beach road sells one of those NVGs which can be use as binos,monos or weapon sights as well.Its going round a hew hundred. -

when you lose an item like the nvg, you will almost certainly be charged.
I concur. One of the incidents that got my active unit a jixed reputation was that we managed to lose a LP3 (laser-range finder). & it was during standby, with the backflap of the Land Rover securely covered, with concertina wire uncoiled, & sentry guards doing duty!
Can't find an online photo of it (found one for the smaller LH-80, which we also used). All I can describe is the box was very bulky, almost like a 15" TV set. I wonder how the culprit could've sneaked it out of camp, if at all, & for what purpose.
The issue wasn't settled even after the unit ORD. The guards got charged, my fellow TA (who drew out the equipment & loaded it into the vehicle, & thus was officially its last handler) resisted any pressure at scapegoating, & his FO officer refused to sign statement too. Saw the latter duo return to camp in ceevee's during my induction course for the new mono-intake, but never got the chance to say hi to them or ask about the resolution. -

1) someone out to sabo the people involved, the item probably ended up in some ulu part of the camp, all smashed up.
2) the guards sleeping, therefore deserved to be charged -

U can try purchasing the Ontario parang from Sheares Technology or u can enquire abt it from them. It seems to be quite a common parang, but i'm not too sure how much Sheares will or might charge
As for the old parang, u can try your luck at Beach Rd and find a similar parang, but they don't have the same blade as the one used by the SAF, maybe the older shops in Kaki Bukit might do a 1 off of such blade, then got to pay extra.
Most schools still use the old parang, while the Units usually use the Ontario machete. -
Speaking of NVGs....does the SAF use Thermal imagers etc?
