OC and CO

  forgive me for asking this, but whats e diff between an OC and a CO?

  OC is commander for a company
  CO is the commander for the whole unit (4 companies)

  The definition can get tricky. In SAF, unit can be a division also. Also, RSN calls the skipper of their ship CO also?

  OC is usually LTA or CPT while CO is usually LTC.

  I watched Band of Brothers, they called their company commander CO, we just do it differently...

  Actually, the estab rank for OC appointment holders may range from WO to LTC, depending on the unit. For CO, it may be up to COL.
  
  And another difference between OC and CO is their relative powers in disciplining soldiers.
  An OC is a Junior Disciplinary Officer (JDO) and the max punishment that he can dish out to an enlistee after a summary trial is 10 days in DB.
  Whereas a CO holds the appointment of a Senior Disciplinary Officer (SDO) and can lock up an enlistee in DB for up to 40 days.

  "CO" is CO, lah.
  
  "OC" is our version of the American "CC" (Company Commander).
  
  For me, I've never been able to see "OC" & immediately not think back to the uniformed groups days of NCC, NPCC, etc.
  
  My Arty stint had no OC's; our equivalent is called "BC" (Battery Commander).
