anyway recce is just another term for brc and scouts whether guards,armour or infantry scouts... -
did i mention that scouts are good with knots and are also experts in making structures made of wood?

if u are a sniper, and was shot dead, ur scout will normally be the one reporting back to say you have failed your mission and has sacrificed your life for the nation. dats the unsaid job of a scout/observer besides providing info to let the sniper get a gd shot and watching his ass if needed.

Actually, I'm prepared to concede that the "scout" is comparatively more hardcore. They're almost certainly the vanguard of the frontline guys, more often than not on foot & within line of sight of the enemy. S'pore don't specifically use the terms, but the Americans call their own commando version "Force Recon" & their snipers "Scout Snipers", for instance.
By contrast, IMO the "recce trooper" is generally less frontline, like with the BRC (a divisional entity) or Arty's Recce-&-Survey Team (my own). They can comparatively be more vehicular-based - though with a lot of autonomy - & can be involved in ground reconnaisance for heavy-duty field deployment, rather than specifically hunting for the enemy.
In both cases, "First into action, Last to be out" applies, though obviously with different mission objectives, terrain & exposure to danger. -
actually brc belongs to brigade-level. divisional levels have lrrps to do the job...

anyway what badge are u talking abt? the recon tab? we can't sew tt on our uniform or jungle hat coz our role will be exposed if we are caught during operations...
but i agree it will look smart if we can sew it on our sleeves juz like the ranger or guards tab... -
Nah, not for ops.But for your uniform during parade and in camp use.Of course when the real conflict begins, all distinguishing markings should be concealed.

I don't believe in decorating yourself with tons of stuff - it sort of makes you look like a christmas tree. Not to mention give you away should you get caught (which is most likely to happen anyway).
For me, I only have my nickname sewed onto the back of my hat. Some of the other guys have "Recon", and the recce badge sewn everywhere. Too show-off for me. -

my recon tab is presented by my S2 after i complete RCC
each one of us (commanders n troopers) in the scout platoon has one sewn behind the hat

Most ppl that got ippt gold, or best soc or marksmanship are from scout platoon..btw which unit are u from?
