  (for those who don't know, before 1 Dec 2004, all NSFs with educational level of 'A' Levels and above must serve 2 and 1/2 years of NS.)

  BTW, if you are enlistted between June and November this year you only do 2 years and 2 months of NSF.

  I still prefer the old 2yr 4mth or 2yr 6 mths for the 'A' lvl ppl....esp. since uni hasnt changed the dates of entry for the coming year....

  yes. 2 years of NS includes PTP. but if u manages to pass PTP before your NS, you will get PTP deduction, meaning you will serve less.

  with the reduction of NS, i wonder what will happen to the promotion of junior officers to LTA? because after 1 year of commissioning, they will get their LTA rank. considering a OCT must go 9 months of BMT + OCS training just to get their 2LT rank. by the time they get LTA, they will already be ORDing soon...

  but i enlisted on 1st oct 2004
  then on paper was stated that i will be ORD-ing on 31st July 2006
  www.miw.com.sg oso stated that i will be ORD-ing on 31st July 2006.

  Haha.. then how abt the CDO 2LTs? Will they get their second bar at all during NSF?

  For those who think it's a waste of time?Go find a job if you think you're gonna slide into a state of mush post ORD.On the bright side, it can really get the army mentality out of your head and reduce the chances of embarassment when you head back into the real world.Waste of time..Gee.Save up and get a brand new notebook, or even pay the downpayment for your new car.The world after NS is a brighter one, although it still looks pretty dim.

  with this reduction of NS to 2 years, the rank of LCP and enlistee CPL is like no different liao.
  
  in the past, one will get promoted to CPl because he has to serve that 6 more months. now that everyone is serving 2 years i can foresee many poor souls not getting any promotion to CPL.
  
  i'm speaking from experience. many people are rankless for 2 years and only when they are about to ORD that they are promoted to CPL. most of that time, the unit just forgotten about them (and their promotion).
  
  i myself is a good example, i've to constantly remind my cheif clerk that i'm eligible for promotion or else i think i'll still be a PTE now. (i never got my LCP, i was a PTE for over a year after i enlisted)
