back to the topic of shoe polish. i made a trip to my unit's e-mart today. they are not selling starwax anymore. kiwi shoe polish is back!
maybe it's because of the starwax smell that they finally come to their senses and go back to kiwi. -

Starwax is wax lor...not kiwi. Ended up my boots kenna KOed cos the wax spoilt the top layer

last time when i was a recruit i bought a bottle of kiwi outside for $2.50. it was very much latter that i found out that e-mart is selling at only less than a dollar! i felt so conned!

I nev bother to kiwi my boots..only for BMT..
All of unit life i tink i onli kiwi for parades.. -
for me i'll try to make it a habit and kiwi my boots once every week. or at least do some simple touch up if i have time.
simply love to see my boots shine. -

The present boots that i have are quite shiny cos i only wear for parades..and that why i intending to buy a new pair..ANy takers?? -
anyone got the super laojiao army boots made by our very own BATA? u know the schoolshoe brand...my dad pass me his pair LOL but i cfm won't wear..maybe donate to my camp heritage room muahahaha

my unit, CO is cok, BRC(Brigade Recce) is even more cok

All SAF boots, once water get in, sure cannot get got one.
Then u end up super uncomfortable *sweak* *sweak* sound.
Got any boots can withstand conc wire, barb wire?
Somehow, gortex boot is slightly more resistant to cuts
Go see your combat engineers/Pioneer friends' boots
cuts everywhere
some cuts so deep, can even see the socks lolz....
SOC, parade ---> wear Gortex boot(light, nice, dont need so much polish)
chiong sua, better wear lao jiao boots, they provide more ankle support
Gortex boot can protect your ankle, but must tie tightly
getting back to shiny boots, i bet everyone heard of 'kiwi shine'
that fella get knocked it down, serve him right
these ppl are damn cok and boliao...

everything must be the same....
if the whole parade, one cok fella boot so super shiny than anyone else
... isnt it weird ?
For those lazy ppl, want to shine your boots in the least possible time
trick 1: spray some water then u polish your boot.
or
trick 2: polish already, use lighter burn it (split second one)
then 2nd trick need some practice loolz.... coz if u burn too long, the shine will be gone too -

My friend when we went for a 3 day course at PLAB went to buy garters from the shop there... cost him $0.80. Go army market buy only $0.50. -

OldAhPek:Are you an NS man or still active?I agree with you that once water get into the boots,you will be walking around with the squeak squeak sound..it's irritating!So that's why must tie the boots tightly..
I oso dun pity the fella who got knocked down for too shiny boots.It's not weird just that what's the point?After all wear on the feet rub on the ground will spoilt sooner or later.Any i oso see NCC pple also polishing their boots very shiny..Maybe they are too free?iI rmb when i was NCC last time i was knocked down countless of time becos i never polish shine the boots.Up to now i oso dunno what is meant by polish shine?

the old leather boots were more resilient than the goretex ones, and certainly resistant against conc and barbed wires. they were also better for parades, since they were easier to polish and shine, and sounded better when used for drills. but of course, for runs like SOC and SEOC and normal runs in boots, the goretex would be favourable due to its weight. as for support, again the leather boots did better.
the purpose of shining one's boots is the same as maintaining one's turnout, and this is part of being disciplined. this is especially emphasised during parades when one's turnout is supposed to be tip-top. of course, the extent of the shine is debatable - some of us have alot of pride in our turnout, and would insist on nothing less than a shine that would reflect sunlight and better still, reflect our faces, while others would only go for the bare minimum required and do a brush shine. in the end, the RSM would define the required standards for the unit. -
Confirm lah. Put lots of kiwi, burn it for few seconds and also hold a metal spoon over a fire and heat till it is hot hot. Press the spoon over the surface of ur boots ( specially the front parts ) . Boots so shine you can see ur face. from peng kia in BMT.... kanna tekan
go SISPEC.... still kanna tekan
SOCE (one of the my MOST enjoyable and fun period)
wah in SOCE(school of combat engineer) almost every month got some celebration... free food, free tiger beer, still got tiger beer gal !
