i got post to HQ PLAB as RP also.. haiz. Heard from my friends its kinda siong over there. Anyone know is it 5day week or 6 day week?

regrading promotions, if u are "A" levels and above, they will promote u to CPL, but u can forgot about going any further... -

RP in PLAB
Types
1) guard house type ==> Stay out (9 - 5)
2) Normal type ==> Shift type ( 24 hours or 48 hours dury)
Training
1) RP training for 2 weeks at somewhere (Rp convertion course)
2) Futher training at your own camp

1)Cpl for a lvl and poly
2) Lcp for the rest ??
Upsides
1) We are less siong compared to inf units
2) We get combat pay
3) We need not clear SOC
4) We might not need to pass ippt
Downsides
1) We get no Public hoildays and sundays
2) We have no Life ( Monotonious job)
3) Training phase might be physically demanding
4) Duty phase might be Mentally demanding

For FDS RP course, it will last 3 months, not 2 weeks for regular RP course.
(RP course + basic infantry skills training + drills)
Passing IPPT is required, those who fail will need to do RT after duties or on off days. -
air base FDS are usually have a tougher life compare to RP in other forces..
in PLAB, sad to say, u will most likely burnt most of ur time during ur stay in NS.
oh yes... the new routine/duty timetable seem damn screw up! gd lucks! -

pop on the 25 feb ...
then go to flight for OJT for another min 2 weeks...
then after that congratulation... u are a qualify RP..

Actually physically its not siong at all..
u just stand ... and stand ... and stand ... depending on the manpower..
on average you will stand 4hrs.. if heng heng maybe up to 15hrs straight ... Dun be surprise... it can be done...(u also lan lan have to do also lah)
Its all the mental part lah... you will hate the SUN more and more ...
So much more to tell.. so much stories .. endless lah ..
have to let you yourself experience it .. then u will know what i mean by MENTAL...
oh yah 1 more thing u will definately know after you are an RP in FDS,

But have to admit that FDS is a bit slack compared to many units. -

a) Guard gate.
b) Emplacements
c) Escort
d) Control I/C
e) Vehicle Comm
f) Dog prowlers
g) etc, etc, and plenty.....really plenty of sai kang
Training/Courses
1) For FDS officers,
- OCS course
- Higher appts holders are from ADA
- OJT (slack one)
- P226 course
2) For Specs
- BSLC
- ASLC
- OJT (Moderate one)
- AGM (automated grenade launcher)
- V200
3) For Men
- FDC
- OJT (very very siong one)
- AGM
- V200
- Class 4
- Signaller

5) U know the base from inside out,outside in.

5) ALWAYS A SERIOUS MANPOWER problem

*Extra* FDS will represent RSAF in big events, wearing No.1 in National day parade, RSAF day parade, SAF day parade etc...
People usually say FDS slack, thats true for the officers and specialist. The siong duties are left for the men.

The 3 lvls of OJT are for Officers, Specs and Men respectively. Men obviously will be more siong b'cos officers, specs n lao jiaos will tekan them
Oh yah, forgot, control ic will sit inside 'control room' and monitor the actions and movements of RPs via phone n comms. they r keeping track of wateva is happening around the base. -

OJT will teach new birds EVERYTHING... literally... like how to perform checks, recognising important personnel (crabs, stars), contingency drills, turnouts, familiarise themselves with the base... n how to chao keng
Its a period when officers, specs n laojiaos pull rank n bully the new guys, wif frequent turnouts followed by 'tekan sessions'.
