Being posted there and just want to know from anyone out there if they know generally what type of training is it like? More physical or ........... what could i expect?

Too bad, but I think combat medic is a very generic vocation & you could be posted to a lot of places (like a signaller). With the line infantry, the Hokkien peng tends to accept you better than other formations - cuz you'll be carrying a M16 & manpacking the bulky stretcher alongside them. The negative side of this is that the SAF doesn't see you as a non-combatant.
With the other combat units, the assimiliation is less so by my estimation. You'll still be attached with the frontline troops, but those medics generally try to "siam" things a lot, wearing their BCS or medical-platoon status like a badge. My Arty experience saw a lot of problems trying to get our lot to dig shellscrapes & do field-sentry duties, etc.
Of course, if you get posted to a base camp or higher-level unit, then life is quite senang. -
u will spend 9 weeks in SMM (School of military medicine) at nee soon camp btw now SMM is a 5 day week so be very happy. Life there IS VERY senang so dont complain/worry. And there will be losta canteen breaks so remember to bring cash haha. The canteen sucks though
PS its anything but physical just lotsa tests lifes good there -
looking forward to seeing u at nee soon camp. the course at SMM is mostly lecture based. think of it as a advance version of the 1st Aid lessons u learn in BMT.
it's a stay in course with night out once a week. no chong suah at least for your time being at SMM, but things might be different once u get posted out... -

1. cpr,helmich manuovere
2. bandage
3. set up bcs-heavy & light mode
4. how to treat haemorrage, shock...
5. geneva convention protecting medics..bull shit one...
6.Infusion...be prepared to shed blood & tears.... -
U will learn to rescue ppl next time when u ORD

You can be posted anywhere in the SAF, even Navy/Air force after you pass out from SMM...
Generally, SMM was the best time of my army life, I remember the 2 hr canteen breaks, 3 nights out a week and the '10 pushup' Standby beds at the old SMM at ulu pandan. (i call it the '10 pushup standby' cos' that's the max you'll get...).
you'll also learn many important skills at SMM, much of which you'll promptly forget when you get to the unit, cos your MO and Encik will take perverse pleasure in making sure that do things their way, not the "'F**KED UP way' that SMM teaches"( in the words of my Encik). Of course there's the dreaded IV, which is fun in a sadistic kinda way.
In my opinion, the saddest part about SMM and CMC was the passing out, cos that's when you realize that the holiday's over and you might actually have to do some real soldiering... -
IV would be fun....unless ur buddie bobo but at least u learn something useful in life.
