in the past, we just prepare ourselves for the worst while hoping for the best. so when it was a lousy outcome we didnt feel cheated and were mentally prepared. if it turned out better than we thought, its a bonus.
alot of people have come here to ask about their postings, whether they will need to chiong sua, stay in, etc. im not sure why so many have thought or hope that they would be "better off" than the rest, cause if this thought didnt even come to them, they wouldnt even have asked such a question.
not being harsh here, but well, it is ns, and if everything is gonna be a bed of roses, then you won't feel much about the 2-yr experience right? do we remember the toughest times we have been through, or the happiest moments we have enjoyed? chances are its the former.
what happened to mental resiliency and strength?
Well, I trust that most of us here choose to be quite honest as we can about the questions posed here, as far as security and ops concerns are met. However, if one is to come any forum and take the information posted wholesale without a pinch of salt, and it turns out not to be as true as you moight have assumed it to be, then it's your own fault. Please understand that we are just sharing our experiences and circumstances do change over time. What happened at Unit X two years ago might be different today.
So, a piece of advice to all you freshies, NS life is not a bed of roses and you can never anticipate or hope to deflect any unpleasant task headed your way in this two years.Sometimes, you are dealt certain cards and you have to make the best of them and play them to the best of your abilities.Just stay safe and on the right side of the law, take care of your health and try to learn as much as you can from your 2 years.Sometimes, the things you learn are not related to army at all, or even your vocation. It's more the life skills you can gain here, though it's not exclusive to the Army.At the end of your "tour" , you will finally understand what it's all about.NS, it's not a pleasant thing but try to survive it.
