Quite interesting to hear that A and B coy are still "xiong". I was in SAFINCOS in early 80s, and was in B coy. Already, A and B had the reputation of being tough. The officers and NCOs were on the ball but fair.Originally posted by Gordonator:Foxtrot? not as xiong as Alpha and Bravo. that's what it used to be during my time, not sure whether it is still now?
hi ponders, which year are you in foxtrot?Originally posted by Ponders:I was from Sispec Foxtrot.
Dun worry. The people who has made it xiong has since left the company except the OC. But the OC getting senile already lah. Will not really participate in training as much as last time.
Dun worry. Foxtrot dun have the xiong label anymore... i think for now its only echo bravo.
Not the right expert as I have not been near SAFTI for a long time. But the last time I did reservist , A and B barracks were still there, near the guard room. The ground floor were partly storerooms and partly platoon offices. But this goes back 10 years or so.Originally posted by Gordonator:alpha and bravo are the only 2 coy with 1 more storey then the other coy.
alpha and bravo 1st storey is the storeroom right?![]()

LTC Ng Heng Chew?Originally posted by Gedanken:I found out last week that my former OC is now CO of SISPEC, and my former CSM is now one of the OCs there. Working under those two gentelmen was easily the high point of my company's history - their training was tough, but it sure as hell created a damn good company. The fact that we still have get-togethers after 13 years so far is evidence of the quality of these guys' work.
That's the guy - he led by example, and his example was one helluva tall order.Originally posted by Gordonator:LTC Ng Heng Chew?![]()
my, if he was your OC back then, it must have been a long time ago.Originally posted by Gedanken:That's the guy - he led by example, and his example was one helluva tall order.
It's difficult not to talk about LTC Ng in the highest terms, but even amongst a group of leaders including SWO Gunga, he stood out. I assume you know where he's been, so you know what he's made of.
Well, yesterday was the 14th anniversary of my enlistment. Our first OC was Captain (now Colonel) Lim Teck Yin - I heard he's now in School of Armour. LTC Ng took over at the beginning of our BCT phase, if I recall correctly, and stayed with us for a year before returning to formation for his next posting. Most of the officers from my batch are now majors, and one of our lads is slated to be 1 CDO's next CO.Originally posted by Gordonator:my, if he was your OC back then, it must have been a long time ago.![]()
Nope, but I may as well be with the amount of time I spend with the guys from the battalion and Force line.Originally posted by Gordonator:pardon me Gedanken, are u a regular?![]()
