The art of sewing your No.4 uniform rank beautifully

i don't think many people are particular about this, but actually, it takes some skills to sew your rank onto your no.4 uniform beautifully.
for example always buy ranks that have very little black camou pattern as possible, better if have none at all. especially for officers, epaulettes which have balck camou pattern covering the "singapura" wording or the rank itself are not very nice to look at. make it very hard of people to see.
so anyway, anyone with experience or words of advice please feel free to share with us here.

when sewing...dun cut along the outline of the rank but rather fold them back and sew it onto the sleeves. so far all my ranks were sewn onto my uniforms at the army market.

here's some example of badly designed ranks. as u can see for the SSG and LTC rank, the black camou pattern cover up the degin of the singapore crest, while for the 1WO rank, the black camou pattern cover up the "singapura" wording. -

haha. all my ranks on my no.4 uniforms have no black camou pattern. mostly green and little bit of brown. i choose them carefully before i buy.

Urghhh I can't sew the rank by myself...rather gave it to the gift shop auntie to sew for me...cheap & nice for 2 bucks!
But I still prefer to choose those nice badges such as marksman, ippt etc etc... -
yah... one regret is i gain no other badges during my nsf other than the umbrealla sigh... think the marksmen and airborne look garang...

i have marksman too. also choose them carefully with no black camou pattern. hate to see my rank and badge with black camou pattern destorying the nice design.

my friend did -
My friend at another unit damn pro lor.
he was a LCP then got promoted to CPL
Since he thought that he would only be a LCP, he sewed alot of LCP uniform. Then lazy to buy CPL rank, he cut away the chevron and carefully sew the strip below his existing LCP uniform
For me,
just pick and go ah.. sometimes i never take it out lor.. i wash together with it -
The "hair" is actually the thread coming lose from the sides of the rank. That's why it's better to fold back and sew than to cut and sew.
