I trained in Sungei Gedong regularly when I was active in the mid-'80s. My camp was at Stagmont Ring & the whole CCK housing estate didn't exist then, but imagine the noise racket our M113s (about 26 of them at BN level) made at dawn whenever we convoy-drove down to Lim Chu Kang & Sungei Gedong.
BTW The Arty & Armour people who train there are often called "ang-sua peng" by the locals, due of the red dust or mud that forever sticks to the No. 4's. Or maybe due to the dirt or mud often left behind on the main roads by the mechanized vehicles. -
Heard from the trainers in SOA that the next projected RSM of 42 SAR might be an AI trained woman 1WO who currently is an instructor in SISPEC.
First woman RSM of Armour formation !! -

Currently, 42 SAR is under a new APC vehicle, sounds like "Bronco". The heaviest weapon in a platoon is only a MG ... more to an infantry unit.
SOA got a few lady tank trainers, one of them quite chio also. -
Trust me, u WONT want WO Jennifer as your superior.. she give extras machiam free like that.. she used to be my csm in 42 serval coy.. everyone hates her..

well back there in 42 they call themselves the BRONCO battalion.. every platoon uses the Bronco APC except maybe the mortar platoon..

I thought BRONCO is the equivalent of BV206. How can it be an APC/IFV?

Why 42 SAR always kana the guinea pig of testing new vehicle. In 1994, the uit try out the ST mfg AMX-10 but since then, never heard of this vehicle anymore. -

AMX-10RC and AMX-10PAC are made by the French. -
AMX-10s are still around.If you were at AOH, you would know which unit they belong to right now.

Jennifer is not a person to play around with thats for sure. Not many people like her. Is it true that the current 42SAR is equipped with Bronco? 42SAR used to be the guinea pig for trying out BX. I thought the Bronco is meant for the infantry? Why is is tried out in a armour battalion?

I think Sungai Gedong also houses 46 SAR as well, doesn't it?
Tim Huxley mentioned one recce battalion under the armour formation. Could this be the one, since it is part of 8 SAB, which in turn, comes under 3 DIV? -

46 SAR is supposed to be the DRB, Division Recce Bn...
Supposed la, but it still function as a normal ABG. -
I remember when I was first posted to 46SAR from Tekong (last batch ITD then)... Moody as hell sitting at the back of a tonner driving across the whole island. Then the tonner went through the gates and I saw the 42 camp on the left... "Not that bad what!?", I thought (the camp was relatively new then)... then the tonner turned right and I saw the 46 camp!!! KNN!!! Became even more moody!!!

she's in scorpion coy bmtc sch 2 if im not wrong. and i heard the former RSM of 2SIR is taking over her...

42SAR is going for the ATEC this year ... most probably, Jennifer will take over from 1WO Arumugam after the unit turns operational.
