ya Dr Beng is still the chairman of NCC. i don't think he has any rank apart from being chairman.Originally posted by HENG@:oh btw, Is Arthur Beng still in charge of NCC? wads his rank? His son was in my sch, NCC also, a batch above me, when Arthur Beng was the chairman of NCC.
I think there has been a change in policy, spoke to a former NCC Staff Officer who has since retired....My understanding is that .... In the past if you were a NS Officer and as a teacher, got NCC as your CCA, you get to retain your NS rank completely; in other words you wear your Singapura rank and your NS formation berret. If you're commando, you wear your red berret but change the crest to NCC crest. This is so even as when you are a trainee in the NCC Officer Training Course.Originally posted by sgboy2004:if u NS(LTA)...u still wear back your NS rank, not the NCC one lah
Your from Chinese HIgh aren't you?Originally posted by HENG@:yup yup thats him I think? but are u from my sch? or are there more than one MAJ(NCC) teachers we're talking about.

not so sure bout the NS rank determining the NCC rank thingy... tis is wad the ncc webby haf 2 sae...Originally posted by malcolmloke:I think there has been a change in policy, spoke to a former NCC Staff Officer who has since retired....My understanding is that .... But now,
During course, regardless of past NS background, all trainees will wear trainee ranks, similar to service term OCT, i.e. 2 white strips but with the word NCC instead of Singapura. After course, what rank each NCC officer will be depends on his NS rank. If the officer is LTA(NS), he will get LTA(NCC). If the person is a 3SG(NS) , he will start off with 2LT(NCC).
Subsequently, if an NS Officer gets promoted in his SAF rank, he will receive a smiliar promotion in NCC. Let's say a LTA(NS) gets promoted to CPT(NS), he will similarly get promoted from LTA(NCC) to CPT(NCC). But a promotion within the NCC ranks doesn't earn you a promotion in SAF ranks lah..
Yet to hear of any NCC Officers being promoted beyond to the ranks of COL(NS) and above. Not too sure of this situation if it ever happens.
Hope I didn't get any facts wrong![]()
