yes reporting sick is a right all servicemen are entitled to.Originally posted by nismoS132:i always thought r.s is a right, not a privileged? at least that's why my sec com in bmt told me. that no matter what the instructors say, we always have the right to report sick if we truely feel we are unwell.
yesterday's CRO had a 1sg who had this rs privileges revoked. exact words. he will be charged if he reports sick whether outside or in camp. only allowed to go to emergency wards, and only during real emergencies.

but in EXCEPTIONAL cases, and usually with the consensus of the commander in concern, it may be decided that the serviceman would only be allowed to report sick in camp (dont think even that is revoked, since reporting sick in camp is rather controlled already). this is unusual and happens only when a serviceman has been found to be persistently taking advantage of reporting sick outside, e.g. doc-hop, taking short mcs outside continually so that he does not need to return to endorse his mc, etc, especially for NSFs who has unlimited medical leave.
in your case, there may be unusual circumstances too. rather than have us speculate here and think the serviceman may be short-changed, why not find out the exact details and let us know here?
lol..ncc..happened once onli a long time ago.....had to be carried off the parade square....didnt remember a thing...so much for fasting on that dayOriginally posted by HeckKER:Slackers everywhere...fake reporting sick..

Anyway...Its understandable why pple in army can chao keng and slack so much..Originally posted by EXCO:Hmm... Why the NCC comparison? Does NCC stay in for 5 days every week? I am not defending anyone here, but this is a comparison of apples with oranges. NCC is not the SAF. You should try toning down the edge in your post.
We are humans.Humans have flaws, it's how you manage people that counts. The act of forbidding him to report sick might push him down the line to something one day.Originally posted by HeckKER:Anyway...Its understandable why pple in army can chao keng and slack so much..
in NCC as a former seargent..i am used to see almost half the platoon all resting in canteen..
1 dude who reported sick in NCC even turned up in arcade in full uniform after that..
there may not be directives and guidelines for these. however, there is always room for commander's discretion.Originally posted by tchiew:Hi wuming78
Is this an official standing order or just a practice? Where is it stated? TSR and TD, dun remember reading it?

Anything exists. After the Commando debacle, I'm not too shocked when I hear of stupidity and lack of leadership in the army.Originally posted by lwflee:Seriously, a commander dumb enough to do that is not much of a commander.
