Selatar camp is defintely 1 of the oldest camp around. i think the buildings there are built way before world war II. not to mention very big too, all the building are like very far apart from one another. lastly, very good scenery they have other there. swamps and lakes, very close to nature.

yah amoy quee camp really cannot make it liao lah....the MPH roof boards dropping off.....LOL i remember got one time got CO briefing at the MPH... when he arrived the RSM asked the battalion to sedia....when they stamped their boots some of the roof tiles fell lor.

I just feel that MHC a little outta the way....very difficult to access. -
What about Beach road Camp........former PDF HQ now torn down.......the only camp in the city???

modern camp is sembawang camp.....the bunks damn nice lo...makes my bunk back in seletar camp look like hell....

The old CMPB in dempsey road also very old later HQMC took over now rented out to some wine bar and furniture shops.

khatib camp is another old camp i came across. their cookhouse and buildings next to it reminds me of my primary school, which itself is also very old.
some part of the camp are underdoing renovations i see, the guardhouse have been torn down. -

2 camps spring to mind....
1) Nee Soon Camp in the 1980s.... when the old SBMT was there. I was based there so I have some affiliation. The old british barracks and officer mess are unique architecture in Singapore. Also, I found in the guard room at the main gate, old British Army documents. They were guard duty hand over and take over sheets. They were quite old... they were still listing down "drummers and runners". Presumably in the old days, probably before WW 2, the guard detachment had drummers attached on duty to beat the drum as a signal of some sort (muster parade?).
My platoon office was high-ceilinged , with a large balcony and much of the structure was old, including the furniture !
There were also bungalows behind the officer mess, which was unofficially a "no - go" area for SAF personnel. The New Zealand army had their families housed there and they had their own MP patrols. But on duty once, I had the chance to take a look on a few ocassions... they were the grand old 2 storey bungalows with high ceiling and a bit of perankan architecture. Nice. Nice women there too !
Wonder what happened after the re-development of Nee Soon Camp? Can someone elaborate?
2) Dieppe barracks in the 1990s.... when I did my reserve duty. The New Zealand army just handed over to SAF. We moved in and had the luxury of air-con rooms / bunks to sleep in. Quite modern and not so fascinating. It was the "luxury" that impressed me. -

when the 1st transport battalion moved in.. there was this very interesting period of time where at 1 camp, there were 2 gates.. one for NAVY INTO, IMS and NDU and another for the army camp...
soon after they decided to use the army camp gate regardless u r from the Navy or the Army.. bookin was definitely a chore for NDU personnel cos have to go thru 2 rounds of chks not only security reasons but worst still during the SARS period.
anyway off topic liao, sembawan camp for the navy has been left there by the british navy. b4 singpaore had tuas naval base, ships are either there or at the small camp opps sentosa beside labrador park. (paiseh forgot the name liao) now semabawang is training camp for naval personel.. soon will be moved too .. and NDU will take over the camp and expand.. -

Infact, Selerang, Seletar, Nee Soon Camps were all old British Camps, thats why their is still hint of the perankan style ..kinda of cool feeling aye Especially Seletar camp, where walking btw units were big bangalows, like the CCO in Seletar .. -
Khatib camp is considered a new camp, it is the first of "new camps" whereby more than one unit shares a camp compound, the presence of a track and swimming pool in the design to be shared by a few units. It was buit in around 1980. It was buit to replace Kang Gul Camp( not sure abt spelling)
Olds camps are those left by the british.......such nee soon, selarang, selatar etc. -

i'm glad to announce that nee soon camp overall have gone through a major face lift and is considered a "new" camp when HQ combat enginner, SOCE, DETC and HQ medical Crop, SMM moved in a few years back.
the oldest building in nee soon still in use now belongs to the ADF buildings near the old cookhouse, which used to belong to BMTC school 2 back in the 90s. they are undergoing renovations now.
even the guardhouse is new now, been renovated back in the 90s.
as for those old bistish buildings u mentioned, they are still there, but many are not in use. people seldom went up there anymore. i happened to venture there once. astonished to know that those buildings are build way back in the 30s. -

Nice to know there is someone there in Nee Soon. During my time, Transit Road had those "mama" shops selling cheap goods. A year or so after my ROD, they built better shophouses for those guys. I think they are still there, as during my reservist in the 1990s, I went to a camp nearby to draw ammo and passed by Nee Soon.
I was in SBMT 2nd Wing and my office was in Echo Coy near the Muslim cookhouse. I wonder if it is still there? Facing the Officers' Mess. One day, when I was in the platoon office, gazing out of the balcony, I saw a old British couple (man and wife... around 60 years old). They were walking along looking at the buildings. I guessed he was an ex-British army serviceman. I went down to say "hello" , since they were already loitering outside the company line. He told me he served there in the 1950s and actually Echo Coy barracks was the cookhouse staff barracks, which explained why we had some stuff we found in the building. He was quite amazed that in the 1980s , very little had changed. Some new training sheds were built but not much changes. -

Got, at the western end, Tuas area. Quite old and ulu. Went there for weapon zeroing once, got a really dilapitated 50m (or is it 25m?) range inside the camp... not sure if it is still there though.
