Staff and Master Sergeants

pardon me for asking but what are they classified as? still considered as specailists?

senior specs? i.e. 1st sgt n above?
its way of army recognizing them for their long years of work, i.e. same as teachers getting their 20yrs service awards, senior technicians, etc.....
i.e. most prob. they cannot get promoted or do not wish to be promoted to officers etc.... but anyway they can get to senior warrant.

depending on how they wanna be called -
Encik is often used only if they are holding CSM appointments. They doing staff tours, i think they are generally addressed as Staff or Master.
I used to call one of the warrant officers encik. Because he was my CSM and a darn good one

yes, master sergeants and below till 3sg are Specialists. although sometimes 1sg and up are regarded as senior specs.
Some says CPL are specs. I dunno what's right. but if you follow US System, CPL and above are NCO (Non-coms) where the close equivalent are Specialists in singapore.
But then again, Sect Comds in US are CPLs.

i cant imagine in my camp the staff and master sgts expect ppl to call them `SIR`
it`s so unfitting

even a WO is a warrant and not a commissioned officer -

i dont think it sounds rude arh....u consider in the US Navy...they call their Master Chiefs as Mister informally...... -

they are classified as specialists. but it doesn't really matter at where i work, everyone is pretty much a team.
