i don't know if its true, but i have heard that having the concept of an open shower is one of the ways to help the recruits overcome their shyness. i heard its also required you sleep shirtless or in underwear if im not wrong.
there are also times as part of training where you kena strip to underwear or made to take off clothes at the times when you don't want to.
so in a way of trying to humiliate us they might be actually trying to help us overcome our shyness and maybe drive us to get better fit bodies?
guys who have completed NS, so what are your opinions and what are some of the experiences you have had concerning this. feel free to share your experiences. -
Errr, not so sure about that, but I do know I had cubicles to shower in in sispec.
When you're in a bunk full of guys, I doubt anyone is interested in anyone's dicks. -
Open showers? Required to strip down or sleep in underwear? I'm sure TCH will "get to the bottom of this".

I dont know what are their motives. But during my bmt days our ps advised us to share a cubicle to bathe.. instead of lining up a long queue. He said in tat way can save more time for us to rest.. Of cos if u wanna have your own cubicle to bath then gonna wait awhile loh

2. i have to dispel myths like these - no, no one is required to sleep naked, or half naked, and no part of the training requires one to be stripped as such too. i hope this is not part of someone's sick fantasies. it is certainly not the organisation's. please report any of such acts accordingly.
helping or forcing one to overcome shyness of his and others' body is and will never be part of the training objectives of the SAF! so please stop going around spreading such rumours. -

during my bmt, when the lights off timing was strictly 2230, and the admin time was short, and the number of cubicles was limited, all my platoon mates were ok with sharing shower cubicles - one would wet himself, leave the cubicle to soap while another wets himself, and so on and so forth. the only reason this was done was to shorten the time spent in the toilet and lengthen the time that could be better spent resting in the bunk, sleeping, eating, calling girlfriends, etc. at no time was any other skewed objectives in our minds, and i dont see how and why anyone would interpret what we have done or were advised to do that way too, unless that person himself have such desires. -
Just to make sure u guys are male and not female like in Hua Mu lan.(Just joking),
but in my days in Taiwan base camp,if u have STD,u will be shaved bald at the pubic area and in the next few days will be escorted to Singapore and court martialled when u are caught hiding the truth.

i duno where u heard this but these never happened... taking shower also got cubicle la... -

Well, actually whether or not there are cubicles depends on the individual camp. But all should have some form of partition between showering individuals though, only a matter of whether u feel its adequate or not.Originally posted by BrUtUs:

U'll only be assured of a cubicle if u're a female soldier.
But not that it matters, cos u'll lose your inhibitions and get used to it in no time. -

I didn't heard of the rule requiring us to be topless when sleeping during BMT.
Whether you want to be topless when sleeping or not is totally up to you.

ha, no loh....assuming majority of the males in ntu went through NS like me, i still see many go cubicle urinate...which is inconsiderate cos got people might want to do big business there

before you go in.. all of us are shy lah...
when you go in,, you will find it pretty normal as these scenes are acted almost everyday. I have guys who come to my bunk in their underwear only or walked naked to the bathroom.
Cos singapore weather is hot, we are used to be half naked liao,.,, I believe that SAf will nt want or force people to strip down to full naked or underwear.
If you r shy, wear some clothes,, If you are bold and dare.. you can strip all for all you care -
before even enlist,, i hv heard cannot bring soild soap. If you bend down to pick up the drop soap on t floor,, will hv someone suddenly from t back to anal you into your hole...
so just bring liquid soap/shower gel.. When i go in liao bmt,, all are just rumours not true one -
