1) What is the requirement to enter OCS
2)Go there do what ?
3)How i can stand a higher chance of entering
And any other relevant information
Thanks in advance.
haha...well that is always an never ending issue i observed back in OCS, the guys from JC batchs always love to talk , ask this ask that.....like a JC level kinda of training. whereby the poly batch just go there...do whats to be done, less talk more action, thats my opinion though .Originally posted by rainwat3r:actually just curious cannot meh.... besides i got so many friends and cousins going ns ... so i thought asking out for them and myself wont hurt ... but 1 thing i wonder is , can poly students become officers too ? or will they pale in comparism with jc students?
Got 4 intakes mah....so each batch, regardless of poly or JC, will have equal chanceOriginally posted by rainwat3r:actually just curious cannot meh.... besides i got so many friends and cousins going ns ... so i thought asking out for them and myself wont hurt ... but 1 thing i wonder is , can poly students become officers too ? or will they pale in comparism with jc students?

there has been alot of threads on OCS. have you tried searching for them and reading through them first? would be more productive to do so, and then to post more specific questions for further clarifications. else we will be always going through the same things over and over again.Originally posted by rainwat3r:Any information also good , better than nth
but ocs like very good so im very interested
'Cos got the highest pay amongst all NSFsOriginally posted by wuming78:there has been alot of threads on OCS. have you tried searching for them and reading through them first? would be more productive to do so, and then to post more specific questions for further clarifications. else we will be always going through the same things over and over again.
to answer your questions real quickly though, you must have the desire for command appointments, and also display the necessary aptitude and attitude and be found suitable by your commanders, to get to OCS. And OCS being Officer Cadet School, of course you go there to undergo training to become an officer of the SAF. if you wish to get to OCS, you must then put in your best during BMT.
anyway, like Gordonator has asked, i would like to ask a similar question too: what about ocs makes it seem very good to you, and what about it attracts you to aspire to it? cos everyone else wishes to go there? cos it seems the place where the better ones go? or...?
there is always this opinion that officers from the poly batch are "do-ers" while those from the JC batch are "talkers".Originally posted by one-niner:haha...well that is always an never ending issue i observed back in OCS, the guys from JC batchs always love to talk , ask this ask that.....like a JC level kinda of training. whereby the poly batch just go there...do whats to be done, less talk more action, thats my opinion though .
gee i really wish to bring up the stories..okay ...lets not name any names..the most classic incident was durin my cadet days when the Cadet School Commander actually told our CWC on the day of the CNY celebration that we had to do fatigue duty after the celebration due to some reason ( this one i really forgot what) but our wing comd already promised us our 1 week break due to our combined Spade and patrol and he was impressed with our performace.Originally posted by wuming78:there is always this opinion that officers from the poly batch are "do-ers" while those from the JC batch are "talkers".
i would like to challenge this generalisation, by asking for concrete rather than anecdotal evidences. i think more often than not this is a "word of mouth" myth that gets passed around, and affirmed by people only looking for certain events that affirm their mindsets.
if an officer can either be a do-er or a talk-er, then the SAF is doomed, cos it is useless being one and not the other. being able to only do and not talk (and implicitly, plan) is useless; being able to talk/plan and not being able to execute is also folly.
i know your experiences.Originally posted by one-niner:gee i really wish to bring up the stories..okay ...lets not name any names..the most classic incident was durin my cadet days when the Cadet School Commander actually told our CWC on the day of the CNY celebration that we had to do fatigue duty after the celebration due to some reason ( this one i really forgot what) but our wing comd already promised us our 1 week break due to our combined Spade and patrol and he was impressed with our performace.
then after the celebration, we had to clean up the cookhouse, then my wing comd as he was walking back, he saw us, told us to fall and and he dealt with the CSCoh eyah the CSC was from Echo ....
oh yeah ..what was Bravo Wing most famous for. those in OCS during 2002 will noe what i meant.
okay maybe i didn't phrase it right..sorry for the incorrect words..well JC ppl tend to ask more, why this why that ..whyt cannot this why cannot that, but they do get their work done. but i have met couple of cadets whos JC background and their attitude displayed as "i-am-cadet-future-officer-to-be" as pretty arrogant, fueling their ego even more..
yeah quite true, then i think i met most of the cadets who had the undesirable traits then ..hahaha....am i unlucky or is it just the cadets..hahaha..dame....i always had a debating relationship with my Coy 2IC back in unit, he was 3 yrs younger than me, from a gd JC..pending a scholarship degree in states...boy ..he was alright ..but some of his idelogy ..or rather ..dictums he has always irked me in from the side..that i could not resist poking fun and questioning his ideas, and the best part, he tot i was some uni grad from the way i argued his ideas..till i told him that i was from SP...and he was like "don't smoke me lah..poly ppl don't think in abstract ideas" duhz .....Originally posted by wuming78:i know your experiences.
anyway, as for arrogance and egoism, i believe strongly it is a personal trait more than a result of his education, esp. when if it's post-secondary education, when one's character would have been more or less fixed.
i have met highly educated persons who are rather humble, and not so highly educated ones who are stuck up like hell! i think there is a saying that goes like "those who are truly successful knows humility and are humble". i believe in that too!
me too.Originally posted by dragonwolf882000:to all those guys wanting to go into OCS. During your BMt, you hv to be super garang and your fitness is in tiptop condition. Well, NSFs have always played an integral role in OCS as TCOs, team instructors as well as APCs in some cases. I'm doubtful they can afford to have so many regulars to take over all these roles..Originally posted by deathscythe99:NSF TCO?
Thought they implementing Regulars in OCS as instructors and TCOs?
