You guys should not confuse the pre-"Army 2000" NCC and the post-"Army 2000" NCC.
"Army 2000" is a scheme that started around 1995. It was the scheme that advocated more welfare in the Army. That philosophy has affected the NCC.
So pre 1995, when the NCC was still using the Temasek Green Uniform, you had to starch your uniform still it stood. The way i remember it: apply the starch to the underside of your uniform, leaving about one hand's width at the bottom of the uniform unstarched. This is so that you can tuck in your shirt. Then let it dry overnight on a hanger.
NOW -> NCC = faggots. I had the opportunity of talking to a group of them just a few months ago, and, i am not impressed. The NCC Specialists could not get the men to shut up, they were too fu.ckin' noisy and they even dared to crack jokes at the specialists!
And yes, the boots had to be shiny. And i don't mean instant-shine type of shine. I mean the shine obtained by applying melted kiwi to the toecaps. -

Discipline should start from young. since we are on the topic of uniforms...
i just read an article about new uniforms the US is introducing. apparently the design took into account the opinions of the actual ground troops, from the number and location of pockets, to the material.
so what modifications / improvements can be made to our current no. 4 so as to better provide for our soldiers during operations? -
the new one look neat but the pockets really got no use at all. just go back to the cargo style pockets will do. nothing breaks, dun fix it. i mean was the use of those pocket if it cannot put stuff in it. stuff like magazine (SAR 21 bloated mag)Originally posted by wuming78:since we are on the topic of uniforms...

there was one time i saw a person who has name tag sewed on his no.4 pants (at the back)!
i'm not sure whether his unit require everyone to do it but i was quite shocked upon seeing it. -
