Yah, tell me about it. I've ord for only about a year and already they've replaced all the kits - literally from head to toe; Helmets, SBO, boots even the duffle bag has been replaced by a luggage bag with wheels. Now recruits look like stewardesses boarding a flight, dragging their luggage alongOriginally posted by cornyfish2000:Oh, so now they've even replaced the red and white NB shoes?Looks like SAF is really undergoing a major transition/makeover man... so many changes in such a short span of time.. ha.
I already sense a generation gap even though i'm not that laojiao..
Hmmm, I remember seeing it in my camp's E-mart...Originally posted by Zooish:Heard there was a limited edition Mizuno one that i didn't get
Yup, although it does make alot more sense to have these conveniences thrown in, i think its quite a pity that they've done away with something (the ali baba bag) which has characterised national service since its inception, if u look at all the old photos.Originally posted by Zooish:Yah, tell me about it. There WAS a limited edition Mizuno one. It was good, but I din have the heart to pass my credits for that, instead buying the trolley bagOriginally posted by Zooish:I still wear the blue and white No Balance for running sometimes. Quite crummy already, but its well-seasoned and really comfortable.
I've collected the SAF running shoe series, from the blue and white NB, to the yellow and white NB, red and white NB and the new Brooks.

I'm also guilty of wearing the white RSAF polo tee to run errands sometimes![]()
Now if they were to ask them to pack everything and fall in and run about, it's 2x worseOriginally posted by cornyfish2000:Yup, although it does make alot more sense to have these conveniences thrown in, i think its quite a pity that they've done away with something (the ali baba bag) which has characterised national service since its inception, if u look at all the old photos.

After i ord, the SAf then intro diff types of kits.. wth.. i prefer the boots. i dun like the helmet, SBO and especially the duffle bag-> look like gu niang!Originally posted by Zooish:Yah, tell me about it. vest + slack is not considered proper uniform - the person is probably hoping to get caught by MPs.Originally posted by cornyfish2000:I wonder if they booked out in vest slack or they deliberately dressed like that from home.. Either way, this just goes on to show a total lack of discipline on the part of the individual.
Personally now that i'm back to civilian life, the only SAF item i wear now is my old pair of New Balance shoes when i go jogging, the one that was issued when i enlisted back in '00 (the white with blue New Balance patches on the sides).
Was quite amused at AOH '04 when a PTI showed that shoe model to me as one of the relics from the army's past..
no lah. i got the pic from the e-mart website.Originally posted by gnoik:Hey Gordonator, is this yandao face u?![]()

I was from ncc air previously. My batch 2001 was the last batch to get jungle hat instead of jockey cap (we bought the jockey cap later ourselves).Originally posted by firewizard:ncc got jungle hat? i though they got beret and jockey cap only
RSAF = blueish grey. The colour makes it look dirty and faded, even when brand new.Originally posted by Gordonator:just wanna ask, what color beret are the RSAF and RSN wearing?
i've seem RSAF beret before briefly, but couldn't make up what color it is. blackish blue or something.
pls enlighten me.![]()
i think the kids probably do not know the true meaning of the jungle hat to appreciate it. to them it's probably just another fashionable and unique head-dress, meant to attract attention of the have-nots.Originally posted by LazerLordz:NCC with jungle hat?Now that's a tad too much to bear. Please wear it with pride and smartness, people have sweated blood and tears for it.
