how to get into guards?...can request? any selection?

y u wan to join guards...?? juz asking....n also how much u understand abt guards so far?? like do u know tat as a regular guardsman, u still get the same salary as infantry??

u wanna be wat first..?....Officer?Specialist?...just sign on arh...hopefully there is a guards intake soon during ure time...
helps if ure IPPT is gold..
Guards Spec go thru BSLC and ASLC before going for GCC...
As for officers..they go GCC after OCS arh..
anywaes...Guards are elite infantry...the speartip of the SAF...the CDOs are the Daggers that strike in the dark...the infantry are the mass that follows soon after... -

oh yuh...wanna add something....last time i ask also la from the Army Recruitment centre...they say they will try to put u in the first choice if u are deemed suitable...but there is no way of putting u in guards if there is no intake...so i guess its up to ure luck...this was like 1 year ago...Originally posted by firewizard:how to get into guards?...can request? any selection?

i really dunno if there is no intake...best if u shoot an email(politely of course) to the ARC.. -

comes to battle by landing craft,lsvs and helos(rapple or rope down)....but on the ground...they are basically infantrymen....
a rough comparison of guards would be the airmobile divisions of the US during Vietnam(u guys agree?).. -
i think since u already decided u wanna go the tough way....i suggest u join commandos...seriously...guards get the same salary as infantry...and if u wanna more $$ and willing to go all out, go SOF....

to sign on as GUARDS just need to go ARC and they will do it for you once you pass all the requirement. but if just to get post into GUARDS, depend on intake liao.

anywaes..SOF also accepts Guards or Infantry...but i guess in this world...its always good if u aim high....so aim for CDO...if somehow never get...still got guards to fall on.... -

i applied for the JPSDS thing but never get....anywaes now just go with the flow...my enlistment is in 8 april...aim to be an officer..as for vocation...either guards or infantry arh...not thinking of CDO cos I am malay....i'll settle for Guards or Infantry...godwilling..go ranger..Originally posted by firewizard:den u got into? infantry? commando? -
wat sidestep said is also true...train urself hard..do a 2.4km in 9mins, do approx 15 chinups...then go commando selection...if u can't do this amt of physical test now and u r planning to sign on...i would say u r not even prepared...train first...but of course u r fit enough...juz apply!!!
