life after pop..?

harloe all.. i pop on 9th march, a bit curious and worried abt wat life after tekong will be.. said no to all the officer surveys and sit test, so chances are won't end up in either OCS or SISPEC.. can enlighten me on my possible futures? haha thnx..

And esp if u're A-levels, i'm afraid u might just end up a SISPEC warrior, even though u have demonstrated your disinterest before. That's what i have seen happen many times before.

Very true, if not SISPECS, you might want to find out which schools are graduating amass in Sep, chances are you will be sent their to fill the gaps.
Very Sinang ones are Provost/ Signals/ Logistics (OETC?)/ Medicine, except for the lession on poking each other with syringe, yucks
Very Siong: Straight to units (good luck!)/ engineers, especially pioneers/ armour, heng if you ganna armour driver, sibei siong if you ganna AI

pardon my stupidity, but wat's provost? also heard that places like SIR or RP needs a lot of manpower, so likely posted there as well - is that true?

One thing good about OETI is you can get your 3SG rank without going through chiong suah

Provost = military police
But i think if u were not called up for their selection tests/interviews during BMT, u're unlikely to get it. -

With specs, definitely not MP. If heng, you can become RP. SIR=infantry man, have fun digging trenches and walk (no vehicle support). -

You could become a Military Engineering Specialist and be earmarked for posting to combat units or overseas bases.PES A and triple science is getting more and more common these days.RP and MP would be out of your scope, due to the fact that they conduct interviews during BMT.Signals could be one of the prospective trg schools you might end up in.Eventually, it depends on which vocation lacks manpower during your POP period.Originally posted by mike86:thnx for quick replies all

2sir got intake but i think its for the next batch of bmt peeps. 1 SIR ord in june, think most of SIRS u won't go lar, think maybe the SARS

gnoik - i was around then cuz i was att c for pneumonia... now am fit for combat duty, but still coughing like nuts, so i dunno how also.. and also the SISPEC b4 OCS starts next batch (April batch), so for me OCS is still direct, if tt's wat u're talking abt...
gordonator - just no personal interest to be a commander.. also dunno if i can tahan the extra responsibility, signing extras, etc... i'm not the exceptionally garang type lah, even though i do put in my best...
abt me specs and pes a - nowadays the pes grading is quite weird lah. my buddy has acute asthma, falls out practically every training session due to it, and he's pes b. also dunno how he ended up in pes b... got sent out to CGH twice already, quite sad case...

You should take some time to go thru the list of SAF acronyms so pain-stakingly compiled by forumites, very comprehensive list -
Your profile looks quite similar to mine last year... In fact, the POP timings only differ by 3 weeks... I POPed around 25 March 2004 from BMTC School 2.
I had an interview to be a scout prior to that (after I turned down all the command schools), and when I received my posting (maybe not so surprising after all), I found out that I was going to be a scout in an active infantry battalion.
Just keep in mind: you might not necessarily end up as a rifleman in these battalions, but it isn't that hard for them to put you there too.
For my battalion, there was an empty company which is oddly called "Support". In it are various platoons which do different very specialised jobs: in other words, a rojak company. At the end of BMT, this company was filled with us POPees from BMTC.
Out of the 5 possible platoons, 3 have their own vehicles, which means that you will have a chance to learn driving — that is, if you end up in SP Coy after your POP.
