GCC > Guards Conversion Course. That is for man.
GNCC or GSCC > N stand for NCOs and S stand for specialist. NCOs was no longer used, that how GSCC come about.
GOCC > Guards Officer Conversion Course. When (date) and at where (which camp) did you take your GSCC?
you sure you are a GUARDS Spec.![]()
Chances are i will never go for the course. But my OC, CSM, PC, Sect Cmdrs and Men all call me Platoon Sgt. Btw do give examples of how is it possible that all platoon sgts to be made available to go for the PS course. So what is your problem?Originally posted by Joshua1975:if did not go for advanced leadership course you are a acting PS, please dun call yourself a Platoon SGT, 1st SGT.

Once again are u going to nitpick? Anyway if it makes u happier....i was never a Guardsman...
Finished 2 high 3 low, still a long way to go. 1990 was way before my time, u should be 4th or 5th mono intake?Originally posted by bcoy:I was there in 1990. All CSMs, the RSM and CO were commando/SOF, back then.
Which year of ICT are you at?
Alright, PS Course takes 3 weeks, we are now reservist and we all dun like to go for course. And yes i am very relutant to do so.Originally posted by Joshua1975:??? it only PS course and why cannot made available to go. it had shorten the course to 3 weeks. each coy had 3 PS and each take turn to go. any problem with that? just for 1 work year, i had all my 3 PS go for the PS course.
nitpick??? maybe and no, it never make me any happier even if you say you are just a cook.
as memtion, nitpick or not depend on how you look at it? if cannot comment anything, than the topic should not be Guardsman FAQ - Especially for Specialist and Men. more so when relutant to do so.Originally posted by Bejean:Alright, PS Course takes 3 weeks, we are now reservist and we all dun like to go for course. Seems that u are an OC? or even a CO, perharps u do not have manpower shortages, but sadly we at 634th are facing this big problem. If they aren't any shortages, i would never be a PS now.
You just don't see the point do u? Instead of asking questions nicely, kindly ask yourself how u started this?
As expected, typical bullshit crap from you....as found in your other threads.....Originally posted by Joshua1975:as memtion, nitpick or not depend on how you look at it? if cannot comment anything, than the topic should not be Guardsman FAQ - Especially for Specialist and Men. more so when relutant to do so.

MANPOWER SHORTAGES.....11 guys including PC in my platoon now.....![]()

yup. it means you will become the NSF PS, and to hold the position of the reservist PS after you ORD. you may not become a PS immediately - you may become second to a regular PS, or understudy a current PS. due to the compressed ns duration, we do not have the luxury of having all our PSs come from men and sect comd tours.Originally posted by jzzy011561s:I just finished my ASLC, got posted to 7SIB but got to go for Platoon Sergeant Course first.
Question
1. What does it mean for me? After my platoon sergeant course will I become a PS in Guards so soon? I thought it was always be a good sect comm then get sent to PS course get 2nd SG then become PS.
2. How in the world did they choose me to be in Guards? I'm hardly fit ( IPPT pass! Just PASS! No Silver or Gold!), SOC around 9.30min (heard Guards passing is 9.15min, glup...), no silver bayonet....
3. What would happen if I fail the Guards Conversion Course? Will I be sent to other units? Or re-course?
I'm getting really freaked out by my posting, please help, thank you!
no offend, in order to cut cost or for whatever reasons, SAF has degraded it WOSE quality.Originally posted by jzzy011561s:I just finished my ASLC, got posted to 7SIB but got to go for Platoon Sergeant Course first.

SAD... compressed NS duration... in the beginning NS was oni 2 years, we just move back that all.Originally posted by wuming78:yup. it means you will become the NSF PS, and to hold the position of the reservist PS after you ORD. you may not become a PS immediately - you may become second to a regular PS, or understudy a current PS. due to the compressed ns duration, we do not have the luxury of having all our PSs come from men and sect comd tours.
the selection of personnel to a certain combat arm is largely from factors other than fitness though a minimum standard of that is required. afterall, fitness can be trained.
if you fail GCC, likely that you will recourse.
you meant NSF? mostly yes, almost all PL SGT are NSF now.Originally posted by bcoy:Are platoon sergents fulltime NS men now? When I was doing my NS, the platoon sergents were all regulars, with at least one tour (2 years) as a section commander before promoted to platoon sergent. Some of them had signed on after their NS - meaning they had served 2 years as men, 2 years as section commander, before serving platoon sergents.
Platoon sergents are very important and are the backbone of the platoon. They are the most experienced guys that keep things going. Even the platoon commanders learn from them.
Some of the better units trained all their men to take over should the commanders go down.
Somehow - I feel standards have dropped.
The Israeli army guys serve 3 years, and that includes operational duties. Yet their system is the opposite of ours - all serve as men for the first year, the best are chosen for NCO positions in the second year. And from the NCOs - the best are chosen as officers. All their leaders have at least some experience as solders first.
